Emmerdale’s Graham Foster is renowned for his smooth deep voice but in real life actor Andrew Scarborough sounds rather different.

The actor made his debut on the ITV soap almost 10 years ago in 2017 as Graham Foster – and it didn’t take his character long to cause some drama in the village.

In 2020 though, he was supposedly killed by Pierce Harris (Jonathan Wrather), the abusive ex-husband of Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry), who Graham had recently embarked on a relationship with.

However, the epic Corriedale episode that aired in January this year disclosed that Graham had actually survived and had been living under the radar for several years.

After returning to the village, it’s fair to say Graham received a frosty reception from fellow residents including his ex Kim Tate (Claire King), Rhona and Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), who Graham had been a legal guardian and father figure to

Although Joe was left stunned at first, he later changed his tune about Graham and invited him to stay at Home Farm. In a bid to play happy families, Kim agreed to let Graham move back in farm with Joe, knowing it would make Joe happy.

Graham’s soap comeback has also delighted plenty of fans, with many left swooning over the character and his deep smooth voice. “I love Graham and his sexy voice,” gushed one person previously, while another added: “Graham with that voice though [love heart eyes emoji].”

However, actor Andrew – who hails from Harrogate – sounds totally different in real life. In an interview on ITV’s Lorraine from 2018, Andrew chatted to the host about the soap, and he sounded different to his Emmerdale character, with Andrew having a slight Northern twang.

Discussing Graham’s shock resurrection and return to Emmerdale, Andrew previously revealed: “I never expected it at all. Although saying that I did think that Graham always had a possibility of coming back.”

Regarding maintaining secrecy about his comeback, the 52 year old actor confessed: “Oh yes it’s been a big secret and I kept it mostly quiet from my family, which was tricky.”

He further revealed who he had confided in, saying: “Oh yes just a limited few certainly it is on one hand, in fact I had some cousins who contacted me after it was shown, saying you sod.”
