I was in the Question Time studio audience – Fiona Bruce has a VERY annoying habit and her bias is so obvious
A man who had a bad experience in the Question Time studio audience has slammed Fiona Bruce’s hosting skills.
Former nurse Andy Brown, 62, joined the audience back in 2014, when David Dimbleby was still the host of the popular debate show.
Opening up about his 2014 experience in the audience, David, who requires either a wheelchair or crutches to get around, said that a staff member took away his crutches because he was sitting in the front row.
While he was told that he could simply gesture to have them returned, he said that this would have left him in a dangerous situation in the event of an emergency evacuation.
Thankfully, he had a positive experience with the show’s then-host, David, who he praised for taking the time to greet the audience.
He told The Express: ‘David was very charming. In fact, I rather liked David as the chair of the show. I’m not very keen now on Fiona Bruce, because I think that she interrupts the panel far too much.’

Andy (not pictured) explained that in his former career as a nurse, he had the opportunity to chair many meetings and that’s why he believes he knows what it takes to make a good Question Time host
Andy explained that in his former career as a nurse, he had the opportunity to chair many meetings and that’s why he believes he knows what it takes to make a good Question Time host.
He said: ‘The role of the chair is obviously to remain, I mean, you have your own ideas, but to remain impartial, or at least try and to be unbiased.
‘But I think Fiona interrupts far too much. And I think she comes across to me as she’s rather biased, depending on which guests are there, and she doesn’t let them speak.’
However, he stressed that this was simply his personal opinion.
Andy also admitted that while he mercifully did not need his crutches while appearing on Question Time, he left the audience feeling like those behind the show were discriminatory.
A BBC spokesperson said: ‘We are sorry that Mr Brown did not have a good experience on Question Time in the past and we have offered to contact him directly to discuss this further. We want to make everyone welcome in the Question Time audience, and if an audience member has accessibility requirements, we will make the necessary adjustments to ensure they are able to attend.’
David was a long-standing feature of the show from 1994 until 2018, when Fiona stepped into his shoes.
Announcing his departure after more than two decades, David said that he felt like it was the ‘right time’ to return to go back to his ‘first love: reporting’.

Andy’s experience of watching Question Time live comes after another audience member said that those in Fiona Bruce’s audience have to abide by secret rules
Andy’s experience of watching Question Time live comes after another audience member said that those in the audience have to abide by secret rules.
In 2024, the programme was filming at The Hammond School in Chester, and a fan decided to apply to be part of the audience.
And the contributor, designer Andy Clarke, shared his experience on the show via his blog Stuff and Nonsense.
During his stint on Question Time, politicans Mark Harper, 55, Shabana Mahmood, 45, Carla Denyer, 40, and Elizabeth Saville Roberts, 61, were on the panel.
After turning up at the location and getting to know the other audience members, presenter Fiona, 61, appeared in the room to give them all some advice – and it’s not what you think.
Andy wrote: ‘Fiona Bruce popped in to introduce herself, tell a few stories, and encourage everyone to contribute.
‘Then, at 7pm – after being warned we wouldn’t be able to leave the set, so we should nip to the loo – we were ushered in.’
He also revealed that the Beeb have secret rules to control who gets to speak.
‘Question Time chooses the audience questions based on the number of similar topics submitted and whether they have been answered recently on the show,’ he continued.
‘They choose six questions, one of which will be used for an unfilmed warm-up, and then four or five more.’
He did put his hand up to contribute, but despite his ‘rusty orange shirt and a fresh haircut, Fiona Bruce didn’t come to him’.
