While the average UK penis size ranges from 3.5 to 5.8 inches, Michael, who visited a doctor due to his health concerns last year, measures up at 0.38 inches
What is a micropenis?
According to Cleveland Clinic, a micropenis is: ‘An atypically small penis that’s discovered in infancy or very early childhood.
‘It’s usually the result of a fetal testosterone deficiency.
‘In some people, early hormonal treatment may help stimulate growth of the penis toward a more normal length.’
Not only that, but every time Michael needs to urinate, he has to find a bathroom stall as using a urinal is impossible due to his penis size.
Sitting down with hosts Cat and Ben, he said of when he first realised something was wrong: ‘I would say probably around high school.
‘I was dealing with girlfriends and stuff like that, but I was always under the belief that I was a late bloomer and maybe one day it would get to normal size, but it never did.’
He continued of the impact: ‘Keeping it to myself, I was younger in my teens and twenties, I tried to keep it to myself and I was always single, I had friends who probably wondered why I wasn’t dating.
‘I just didn’t want to go through that.’
Cat asked if he was ever bullied because of his condition, to which he said: ‘I kept it pretty secret. There was a few girlfriends in high school that knew about it, but it never got around.
‘I didn’t get picked on because nobody knew.’
Cat also wanted to know how he brings up the topic in relationships.
Michael said: ‘I’ve probably tried every way, you can be upfront right at the beginning, you can try to talk to somebody for a while and get a connection, then tell them.
‘Or sometimes you don’t say anything at all.’
He added: ‘Since I’ve started talking about it, you don’t get the perspective of women unless it’s brought out there.
‘There’s been a few stories, I’ve read comments and I’ve learned that there’s a huge population that don’t care about that sort of thing.’
Michael confessed that the only medical options he can have are lipsuction, or cutting a ligament.
‘It’s very expensive for the little bit that you get,’ he said.
Encouraging other men to seek help, he said: ‘It should be known that this is a medical condition, and if more people realised it was a condition when they are younger, they could be taken and seen by a doctor and get treatment.
‘It didn’t make me feel very good [that I couldn’t get help] because that was one of the main reasons I went to the doctor was to see if there was anything I could do to make it bigger, but what is available doesn’t really provide much.’
