Beloved member of This Morning bids emotional farewell to show and admits ‘it’s not what I expected’ as she confirms she has been made redundant

A beloved member of This Morning bid an emotional farewell to the team after being made redundant in unexpected circumstances.

In a new schedule shake-up for 2026, Abi Ann Davis – who has been working for the Art Department for well over two years – announced her shock exit on Instagram.

She joined the daytime show back in 2023 and has been a key member of the team ever since.

An emotional Abi took to the social media platform to share the news, posting snaps with hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shepherd, as well as Brummie babe Alison Hammond.

Rounding up her 2.5 years at ITV, she began: ‘While being made redundant was not the ending to my 2025 that I expected at the start of this year, I can honestly say I have LOVED my time working within the Art Department for the past 2.5 years – it’s truly been jaw dropping, hilarious and full to the brim of ‘pinch me’ moments.’

She continued: ‘From early mornings and big builds to live TV chaos and those brilliant, blink-and-you-miss-them on-set moments – being part of this show was something really special, and I’m so proud of what we all created.’

Abi shared how the ‘true heroes’ are those behind the cameras.

She added: ‘The true heroes are the people behind the camera, who make this show what it is, they are completely irreplaceable and truly the heart of the show – endlessly talented, supportive, and always pulling together to make the magic happen.

‘I feel incredibly lucky to have worked alongside such an amazing team of on-screen and off screen talent and have the privilege to call many of them friends.’

Concluding her paragraph, Abi said: ‘It’s never Goodbye – it’s always “See ya later Bab”.’

She was met with comments by friends and colleagues who wished her the best in her next chapter.

It comes amid ITV bosses making decisions to slash shows going into the New Year.

Lorraine Kelly previously shared how she hopes her audiences will ‘stay with her’ after ITV’s decision to brutally slash and overhaul her show.

She faced the brunt of the broadcaster’s huge cost cutting measures, with GMB now taking her 9-10am slot for 22 weeks of the year.

For the remaining 30 weeks of the year, she will present five days a week, meaning her Friday stand-in presenters Ranvir Singh and Christine Lampard are no longer needed for the show.

Lorraine, who previously branded the changes as ‘heartbreaking’ but still refused to quit, said she ‘never takes her viewers for granted’ and hope they will weather the storm with her.

‘Hopefully the audience will still stay with us, because that’s the most important thing to me, is you know, that the audience are still enjoying what I do and the fact that people are so kind and they still watch after all these years,’.

She went on to reveal how her decades on TV has resulted in fans considering her a friend: ‘It’s something that I never, ever take for granted and I never take any, any of this for granted. I really don’t, because it’s, it’s an honour’.

Before going on to tell The Standard: ‘The show continues and obviously it’s only going to be the half hour… but you know what, we’re still here. We’re still here.’

Loose Women was also be axed for half the year, as ITV Daytime bosses announced huge cuts earlier this year with job losses in excess of 220.

ITV sources told Daily Mail that they have decided to cut resources on their daytime schedule so that the network can invest in more drama programmes.

One said: ‘There is a need to cost save but also so that the right money can go to the right shows and with everything getting more expensive these things have to be looked at.’

The source added: ‘Christine and Ranvir remain part of the ITV daytime family.’

This Morning, whose presenters include Alison Hammond, Ben Shepherd, and Cat Deeley, remains untouched.
