Adam Peaty’s mother has been seen in public for the first time since her son married Holly Ramsay in a wedding she did not attend, amid a public family feud that has overshadowed the Olympic swimmer’s big day.

Caroline Peaty, who was uninvited from the ceremony at Bath Abbey, appeared visibly downcast as she left her family home in Staffordshire on Sunday, just a day after the wedding took place.

She was photographed heading out to visit her own mother, Mavis, while wrapped in a cream coat and scarf, following what sources have described as an emotionally draining weekend, in pictures posted online.

The sighting came after Caroline had reportedly considered attending the wedding despite being excluded, telling friends she would “watch from the street”.

However, she later decided against it, explaining that doing so would be “too sad” and that she did not want to “spoil his big day”. Her husband Mark Peaty was also seen out and about separately that day.

He was photographed walking the family dog near their home. Mark was bundled up in a bright orange coat and winter hat as he stepped outside, hours after it emerged that he had been offered a controversial invitation to the wedding.

According to reports from The Sun, Mark was told he could attend the ceremony but would be required to sit at the back of the church, behind other guests’ plus-ones.

More than 200 guests gathered inside Bath Abbey to watch Adam, 31, marry Holly, 25, who is the daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

While the ceremony itself appeared joyful, the run-up to the wedding was marred by an escalating family row that ultimately led to most of the Peaty family being excluded from the special occasion.

Despite the feud, Adam’s sister Bethany was at the church as one of Holly’s bridesmaids. She joined Holly’s mother Tana Ramsay, 51, and sisters Tilly, 24, and Megan, 27, in the bridal party.

A family source told The Sun on Sunday : “Frankly, it’s disgusting that it went ahead without Adam reaching out to his mum and dad beforehand.”

The insider added: “It was a difficult day for Caroline and Mark, so the family spent the evening together. Caroline got upset as soon as she saw the photographs from the wedding.

“For him to turn around and tell Beth that his dad could come and sit at the back of the church is awful. Mark was told he could sit behind plus-ones — who Adam has probably never even seen or spoken to.”

Caroline admitted the pain she is feeling has been overwhelming in a chat with the Daily Mail, saying: “I don’t think they understand how much they have hurt me; it’s as if they have cut my heart out.”

She went on to explain how the fallout has affected the wider family during the festive period, adding: “This is the first Christmas that I’ve not had my family together – my family is broken.

“Yes, I have my other grandchildren. Yes, I have my other children, but my family is split because of the goings on…because of the wedding.”
