Good Morning Britain was abruptly halted on Thursday morning as ITV viewers were presented with a dramatic update surrounding Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor — and the implications could prove deeply uncomfortable for King Charles and the wider Royal Family.
Correspondent Nick Dixon delivered the breaking development live on air, revealing reports that the late Queen Elizabeth II is said to have lent her son millions of pounds to help settle his legal battle with Virginia Giuffre and avoid a potentially explosive court trial.
According to the claims, the Queen allegedly contributed £7 million towards the settlement. A further £3 million is said to have been loaned from Prince Philip’s estate following his death, while then-Prince Charles reportedly provided £1.5 million. In total, Andrew is believed to have received around £12 million.
Crucially, reports suggest that none of the money has been repaid.

Buckingham Palace has yet to respond publicly to the allegations, but the silence is only fuelling speculation — and raising fresh questions about internal Royal finances and decision-making at the highest level.
Nick Dixon went on to explain that the matter is now facing heightened legal scrutiny, particularly in relation to claims that Andrew may have shared confidential information with Jeffrey Epstein in email exchanges. Those allegations are now reportedly being assessed by Thames Valley Police.
In a statement referenced during the broadcast, the force confirmed:
“We can confirm today that Thames Valley Police is leading the ongoing assessment of allegations relating to misconduct in public office. As part of this assessment, we have engaged in discussions with Specialist Crown Prosecutors from the CPS.”
The update adds another deeply uncomfortable chapter to the Epstein fallout — a scandal that has repeatedly cast a long shadow over the monarchy.
A guest on the programme warned that the Royal Family will be desperate to avoid any form of trial or public legal proceedings.
“The last thing the Royal Family want is any kind of trial,” they said. “They won’t want their dirty laundry washed in public. So they are going to hope this problem can be sorted if charges are brought.”
Nick summarised the moment bluntly: “It’s another day of headlines and another twist in the story for Andrew — but also more scrutiny for the Royal Family and the decisions they’ve been making.”
For King Charles, who has worked to steady the monarchy’s image amid ongoing challenges, the timing is particularly difficult. With public trust already tested in recent years, fresh headlines about financial assistance and police assessments risk reopening wounds many believed had begun to heal.
Viewers were quick to react online, with one posting furiously on X: “The man has no shame!”
As investigations continue and pressure mounts, questions remain over whether this latest development will fade quietly — or escalate into yet another defining crisis for the modern monarchy.
