GB News was paused for a piece of devastating breaking news, as another mass shooting took place in the United States. Two people have been k!lled and another nine injured in a shooting at Brown University in Rhode Island, while the gunman remains at large. Students on campus are still being told to shelter in place – with some still hidden in closets around the property.

Speaking on GB News, Leo read out a text one of the students had sent to his mum, which read: “Mum, there’s a live shooting on campus. I’m going to run. I love you”. Issuing a further update, Leo explained: “Apparently the son is still barricaded in a closet, in a cupboard, with multiple other students. Imagine receiving that from your son, your daughter.”

He mused: “It’s kind of not surprising these days when we hear of mass shootings, but that doesn’t make it any less tragic. Just days before Christmas.”

Former UKIP leader Henry Bolton appeared on the show to provide further commentary, adding: “The first thought has to be to the victims of this and particularly the families who are going to be feeling extreme anxiety. At this time of year, that’s the last thing people need.

“But Brown is a large university, about 11,000 students, it’s never had a major security incident in the past so this comes pretty much out of the blue.

“Like any university they’re politically active, but none of that… we shouldn’t link any of that to any speculation as to what’s caused this.”

The shooting first broke out at 4pm local time yesterday (December 13) while exams were taking place. Police made one arrest but later released the detainee after determining they were not involved.

Meanwhile, video footage has shown the attacker dressed all in black, with a manhunt ongoing.

Comments flooded in on social media from devastated viewers, with one writing: “Omg this is heartbreaking.” Another added: “Oh that is so sad.”
