Camilla Tominey hit back at Steve Reed as they locked horns in a fiery clash on GB News. The tense interaction came when Camilla pointed out that fewer homes have been built in the Labour government’s first 18 months compared to the Conservatives in their final period in office. She said: “You’re blaming the conservatives, but in the last 18 months, you’ve actually built 40,000 fewer
The Housing Secretary fired back: “Well, first of all, the number of homes being built right now would have been the tail end of what the Conservatives were doing. That’s why it’s going down because of the time it takes to get an application in, secure consent and then start building.”
He then turned things back on the presenter, asking: “But here’s a question for you. Do you know how much the increase in new housing starts was this year compared with last year?”
Camilla responded: “Well having not been the Housing Secretary. No, I don’t know the answer to that.”
Issuing a brutal swipe at the GB News host, Reed said: “I know you’ve got researchers that do this stuff for you, Camilla.”
She snapped back: “I do a lot of my own research actually, because I am a journalist.”
At the start of the interview, Camilla referred to her previous interview with Reed, reminding him that he was unable to tell her how many homes had been built under the Labour government since coming into power.

The debate became extremely heated as Reed fumed: “I’m not Wikipedia, I’m talking to you about policy. It doesn’t mean I know every single statistic!”
Kicking off today’s interview, she said: “You know what my first question is going to be, don’t you?”
Reed joked that he was “looking forward to it” as Camilla asked: “I need to know, Steve Reed, how many houses have been built since Labour took power?”
He responded: “302 thousand now, I’m pleased to say,” as Camilla remarked: “I’m glad to have that answer from you. It’s not a gotcha question, I hope you’ll agree.”
