BBC Morning Live paused Tuesday’s programme to broadcast a moving and touching tribute.
During the current episode, presenters Gethin Jones and Helen Skelton examined the day’s top stories, which featured developments regarding prostate cancer research.
Gethin, 47, explained: “We are turning our attention to the signs and symptoms of prostate cancer because this morning’s headlines say it’s become the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK for the first time.”
The presenting duo then consulted the programme’s medical expert, Xand van Tulleken, with Helen observing: “These headlines will be triggering for people, they will be scary and understandably so for a lot of people.”
Doctor Xand responded: “I think that’s absolutely right. When we talk about cancers, I think it’s always a difficult conversation and particularly with prostate cancer, because the numbers are going up.”, reports Wales Online.

BBC Morning Live paused Tuesday’s show to air a heartbreaking and poignant tribute
Following medical guidance on the news reports, Helen went on: “Thank you Xand, we know that this is a subject that is close to many of your hearts, it’s close to our hearts, after Kym Marsh’s dad, Dave, died of the disease in 2024. Today we’re looking back at his legacy and how his calls for people to get checked truly saved lives.”
Morning Live subsequently broadcast a memorial to Dave, featuring archived footage of his appearances on the programme alongside his daughter Kym Marsh, who presents the BBC One show. A voiceover during the tribute declared: “Sometimes in life, you meet people who are true gems, warm, funny and caring and willing to give up their time to help others to make a difference. Dave Marsh was that person and so much more.”
After the moving tribute, Helen remarked: “I don’t think you can say Dave’s name without smiling and that is an incredible legacy. Everybody he met, he embraced with warmth and made them smile.”
Gethin replied: “He was so kind and as you saw there, very, very funny, him and Kym together in particular, very funny. I know we had a lot of laughs with him, didn’t we?”.

Morning Live then aired a tribute to Dave, playing old clips of him on the show and with daughter Kym Marsh
Doctor Xand then chimed in: “He is such a sweetie, he was such a lovely man” whilst commending Dave for speaking openly about prostate cancer and boosting awareness.
The actress and Morning Live presenter Kym endured devastating heartbreak in 2024 when her father, Dave, died aged 78 after a “long battle with prostate cancer”.
On Monday (January 12), Kym posted a touching tribute to her dad on the second anniversary of his passing.
Beside a beaming photograph of herself with her cherished father, Kym penned: “2 years since you left us dad. We miss you every day. Life will never be the same without you.

The star posted additional family photographs on her Story, accompanied by the heartfelt message: “Oh how I miss you daddy… My heart hurts.”
