Emmerdale actress Laura Norton, who plays Kerry Wyatt, received support from her co-stars on Thursday

The cast of Emmerdale have rushed to support actress Laura Norton as she shared an emotional life update. The 42-year-old actress is known for portraying Kerry Wyatt in the popular ITV soap. Kerry made her debut in the village back in 2012, where she was introduced as the mother of Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson).

Over the years, Kerry has featured in numerous memorable plotlines, including attempting to rebuild her relationship with daughter Amy, her battle with diabetes, a romance with Andy Sugden (Kelvin Fletcher), and pretending to have a terminal illness to secure a free wedding to Dan Spencer (Liam Fox). Emmerdale viewers were stunned on Christmas Eve 2025 when Kerry unexpectedly married Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) to safeguard the funds he’d been putting aside for his grandson, Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant).

Away from the village, actress Laura shares her life with former Emmerdale star Mark Jordon. The pair are parents to five-year-old Jesse and three-year-old Ronnie, who have both been diagnosed with Usher Syndrome – a rare genetic condition causing combined hearing loss, progressive vision loss, and sometimes balance issues, reports the Mirror.

Laura and Mark jointly posted on Instagram on Thursday (February 5) to share a touching personal update following the launch of a significant Peppa Pig campaign. Accompanied by footage of the duo, the caption stated: “We’re so proud to have been involved in the launch of this wonderful campaign – Peppa’s little brother George has been diagnosed with moderate hearing loss and will wear a hearing aid.

“We were asked by @hasbro and @ndcs_uk to represent the parental side and jumped at the chance. Awareness is key and the huge positive impact this will have on children with hearing loss and their families is so exciting. It normalises hearing loss. Shows people with hearing loss are just like everyone else. Capable, able and resilient. It will promote empathy and understanding. Invaluable.”

The pair went on: “Excited for our own children and the whole community. We were lucky enough to watch the first 2 eps of this journey and with the advice of the @ndcs_uk it’s so authentic. Beautiful to watch. Informative, funny and moving. Such a brilliant moment and we are so proud to be representing this campaign. Can’t wait for you all to see and can’t wait to see more.”

Several of Laura’s Emmerdale colleagues swiftly took to the comments section to express their backing, with Mandy Dingle actress Lisa Riley penning: “Fantastic news – adore you both.”

Just amazing.”
