Good Morning Britain came to a sudden halt as the programme issued another update on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Presenters Ed Balls and Charlotte Hawkins announced to ITV viewers that the 65-year-old has reportedly had his gun license revoked. It comes after King Charles stripped his younger brother of his royal and military titles over his controversial links to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Charlotte said: “Andrew is said to have agreed to give up the certificate after specialist police visited his Royal Lodge home in Windsor.” Sharing further details on the news, Richard Gaisford told the presenters that Andrew is a keen huntsman who enjoys shooting parties and owns several firearms and shotguns for that purpose.

He continued: “According to today’s Sun newspaper, he can only use those weapons under strict supervision. In general terms, police have a duty to make regular checks on those with guns to maintain their licences and those certificates can be revoked if they have concerns about the way weapons are being stored, criminal behaviour or someone’s mental health.

“That visit by the police came a month after the King revoked his royal titles. A few weeks after that, he was also told he would have to move out of Royal Lodge where he has been paying peppercorn rent and living with his former wife Sarah Ferguson.”

In a statement released overnight, the Met Police said: “On Wednesday November 19, firearms licensing officers attended an address in Windsor to request that a man in his 60s voluntarily surrender his firearms and shotgun certificate.

“The certificate was surrendered, and we will not be commenting any further at this stage.”

Richard acknowledged that pressure has been mounting on Andrew over recent weeks and months following further revelations from the Epstein files, the latest of which “seems to suggest that Jeffrey Epstein was wanting to use Andrew to forge greater links with businesses in China”.

A source reportedly told The Sun: “He will be under strict supervision. It is a real blow. He will now not be able to do things like use guns on his own or even transport them unless he is under strict supervision. It is a real blow to him.”

One reason Andrew’s gun licence is believed to have been reviewed is his upcoming move from Windsor to Norfolk, as licence holders are required to notify authorities of any change of address involving registered firearms.
