The Chase fans were all left saying the same thing just minutes into the ITV quiz show. On Monday (January 26), Bradley Walsh returned to the helm, welcoming four new players onto the teatime show. He introduced Alison, Jim, Rose, and Trevor to the viewers at home before they put their general knowledge to the test. This week, the quartet went up against Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan, who certainly brought her A game.

First to step up to the podium was retired teacher Alison, who raked in an impressive £5,000 in the cash builder round. But her success was short-lived after she was booted from the competition just minutes into the head-to-head round. Next to take on the Chaser was Jim from Manchester, who made sure not to follow in his teammate’s footsteps.

He showed off his impressive knowledge after he brought in a staggering £6,000 in the cash builder round, and he certainly put up a good effort against the brainy redhead when he added his winnings to the jackpot.

But things took an unexpected turn when social media manager Rose stepped up to the podium. In the cash builder round, the Londoner failed to correctly answer a single question, despite some “obvious” answers passing her by.

After watching the nail-biting scenes unfold on screen, viewers flocked to social media to share their surprise. One user penned: “Rose gets… ZERO but it’s all about bodies in the box,” as another agreed: “Poor Rose was like a rabbit in the headlights there.”

It was at this point that Bradders reassured her that this had happened to several other players in the past and didn’t mean that she couldn’t secure a place in the final chase. The Bolton brainiac then offered the food marketer three options before going head-to-head: a high offer of £65,000, a middle offer of 0, or a low offer of -£1,000.

After addressing her fellow teammates, Rose decided to go for the low offer, which would bring their total down to £5,000 in the jackpot. Despite suffering a rocky start in the cash builder round, Rose managed to secure her place in the final chase alongside her teammate Jim.

Viewers returned to social media to share their surprise at her achievement, with one user posting: “She pulled it back! Well done, Rose,” and another agreeing: “What a great comeback!” Trevor was the final player to take on the Chaser after earning £4,000 in the cash builder round.

But unfortunately, he crumbled under the pressure and was the second player to be eliminated from the competition in the head-to-head round, leaving just Rose and Jim in the final chase. In the final round, the pair answered 12 questions correctly in two minutes, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Chaser.

Jenny caught the dynamic duo with a minute left to spare, swiping back their £5,000 winnings in the joint jackpot and sending them home empty-handed. The Chase airs on weekdays from 5pm on ITV1, or catch up on ITVX.
