While the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins have had intense battles on the field, none of that mattered Monday night after wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a knee injury.

Patrick Mahomes and Hill played together on the Chiefs for five seasons.

Hill was carted off the field in the third quarter against the New York Jets. He caught a pass from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa but got tackled awkwardly as his leg went under him as he fell to the ground.

As many other players watched the game, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes thought about his old teammate.

He would soon take to social media and give his thoughts about his former teammate.

After seeing Tyreek Hill go down, Mahomes headed out to X and posted a three-word message: “Prayers up, man,” with praying hands emojis.

Nobody wants to see a fellow player suffer a major injury that could damage their health and career.

The Miami Dolphins picked up their first win of the season Monday night, but it came at a cost. Tyreek Hill suffered a knee injury in the third quarter after being tackled along the sideline.

Teammates and trainers surrounded him as he held his left leg in pain before being carted off the field. It was obvious that he would not be returning to the field that night or any other game this year.

ESPN reported Tuesday morning that, in addition to the dislocated knee he suffered, Hill also has multiple ligaments in his knee, including his ACL, and will have surgery sometime Tuesday. This is a season-ending injury for Hill, who has a long recovery ahead of him.

It is too soon to say what the future holds for the 31-year-old, but it might be hard to fathom that he will be the same player once he gets back on the field.
