As a regular star of the morning show for the last decade, he announced the “end of an era” to fans on social media.

Departing Good Morning Britain star Andrew Pierce has said “onwards and upwards” as he hailed the “end of an era” after quitting the ITV breakfast show. Pierce explained that from January he won’t be part of GMB any more due to the programme being extended in the new year, as Lorraine is sliced to half an hour.

Lorraine will air from 9:30am-10am instead of 9am-10am, meaning GMB will last for another 30 minutes each weekday morning. Due to commitments with his other show at GB News, Pierce won’t be able to appear any longer, and confirmed he will be leaving the studio behind for greener pastures.

Writing on X, Pierce said: “End of an era. Last week on GMB with Susanna Reid as can’t do extra spot in extended show from January. But join me on my GB News show from 9:30am Monday to Thursday. Onwards, upwards.”

Fans were divided by the move, with one moaning: “You will fit right in with your ridiculous mutterings on the GB comedy club!”

Someone else praised him: “Certainly will join you… I like your show! Happy Christmas to you and yours.” As a third echoed: “Gonna miss you and Kevin [Maguire] going head to head. You guys balanced it out really well. Is it possible to make a special arrangement regarding this?”

Andrew first joined GB News in August 2022, and praised the network in 2024: “Delighted with @beverleyturner to be part of GB News team which is now beating Sky News week in, week out. And they said GB News wouldn’t last!”

The Express first reported that Andrew had announced his departure from GMB live on the show last week, something he confirmed on X.

He said: “Not a suggestion. It’s a fact, next week sadly is my last on @gmb, but viewers can tune in to see me presenting on @GBNEWS from 9.30am Monday to Thursday.”
