The Masked Singer chaos as Joel Dommett exposes star’s identity in major blunder

The host of the ITV series admitted he was on “the naughty step” after the error.

Joel Dommett has revealed he threw The Masked Singer festival special into chaos during filming after an accidental blunder.

The host is returning to the beloved ITV competition, alongside judges Jonathan Ross, Maya Jama, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan.

They’ll be joining viewers in guessing the real identities of the celebrities taking part after a series of mysterious clues.

Four famous faces will be taking to the stage behind secret identities, dressed as Santa’s Sack, Mistletoe, a Goose A-Laying and Figgy Pudding.

The Christmas special airs on Boxing Day, before a full series hitting screens a few weeks later.

It’s now been revealed that filming for the festive episode descended into chaos when Joel accidentally named one of the hidden stars.

He admitted he recognised the laugh behind Mistletoe, and announced their real name before realising his mistake and sinking to the floor.

The I’m A Celebrity Unpacked host told The Sun: “I can’t believe I did it. This person was chuckling in the costume and it’s a chuckle I know well and I said their name. It just came out. Their actual name!”

He added: “Thankfully, [the judges] had pretty much guessed who it was.

“But producers did reiterate to me that I wasn’t to do that again. I was on the naughty step.”

The Masked Singer UK Christmas special is also set to feature a host of pantomime icons, Fairy Godmother (Su Pollard), the dame (Christopher Biggins), Wicked Stepmother (Lesley Joseph) and Prince Charming (Basil Brush), who will be dropping clues for the panel.

This comes after Joel faced another blunder weeks ago, while filming I’m A Celebrity’s spin-off programme Unpacked.

He was forced to apologise after accidentally swearing, when his usual broadcasting was chaotically interrupted when he was “attacked” by an insect.

He dramatically leapt from his seat as he started swatting at a fly, shouting out: “Ohhh f***ing hell, that’s massive.”

He very quickly recovered from the incident, reminding himself that he was broadcasting live.

“I’m sorry I swore,” he apologised, adding: “That was absolutely petrifying.”
