Amanda Holden has taken a fresh swipe at Phillip Schofield after his name cropped up during Tuesday’s Heart Radio Breakfast Show. The 55-year-old and her co-star Jamie Theakston were joined in the studio by Jack Whitehall, ahead of his presenting role at The Brit Awards this weekend.

During their conversation, Amanda enquired about Jack’s outfit choice for the ceremony, with him revealing he’d be wearing a suit. When pushed on whether he’d be sporting a “snappy pair of socks” like his father, he quipped: “I’m not going to go too jazzy with the socks, you never want to be upstaged by a sock.”

Looking towards her co-presenter following his answer, she remarked: “Well, Jamie, I rest my case.”

Confused by her statement, her colleague responded: “What are you talking about? Children’s television? That wasn’t me, that was Phillip Schofield.”

Upon immediately hearing his name mentioned, Amanda wasted no time in having a pop at her former This Morning colleague.

She said with a chuckle: “Oh god, please, let’s not mention that name on air, it’s a family show!”.

Phil and Holly on This Morning

The duo presented This Morning together for a short spell while Holly Willoughby was on maternity leave in 2014.

Four years afterwards, claims emerged that Phillip had scuppered her opportunity to co-present with him once more, as Holly fronted I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! alongside Declan Donnelly.

A former daytime TV executive previously told The Sun that Phillip “actively campaigned” for Rochelle Humes to secure the position instead.

However, an ITV spokesperson subsequently refuted the reports, confirming that presenter decisions rest solely with producers.

Phillip also tackled the rumours on social media, describing them as “hurtful and wildly untrue”.

While Amanda didn’t address the reports directly at the time, she’s been candid about her feelings towards him over the years.

During a light-hearted game on Heart Radio about three unwanted items in her home, she joked in 2019: “Spiders, flies and Phillip Schofield.”

Subsequently, she disclosed that she’d attempted to arrange a face-to-face meeting with him over coffee, but claimed he failed to respond.

When questioned about her former colleague on Heart, Amanda admitted: “I did offer to meet him for a coffee months ago, he didn’t reply to my text. What can I say?”.

Jamie remarked: “The olive branch had been extended,” to which she confirmed: “Oh, yes.”

The presenter has also previously aimed an apparent dig at Phillip’s former co-star, Holly.

When discussing speculation about her and Paul C. Brunson’s programme Unfinished Business being renewed for a second series, Amanda was pressed on whether the reports were accurate.

“Well, yesterday I read in the paper that we are doing another series, but I don’t know for sure,” she shared.

Mischievously stirring the pot, Jamie responded: “What are they suggesting, they getting Holly Willoughby?”.

Taken aback, Amanda exclaimed: “I… what? !”, before laughing and adding: “No, they want a proper presenter.”

Jamie responded: “You’re going to get in trouble for that!”, to which Amanda retorted playfully: “No one’s listening.”
