Rachel Reeves has called on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to repay any misused public funds. The 66-year-old disgraced royal held the UK Trade Envoy role for a decade, during which he was responsible for promoting business interests overseas.

While Andrew was released under investigation on the same day as his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in a public office last week, reports later emerged that former Duke of York may have expensed private massages while in the role as UK Trade Envoy.

When quizzed on whether Andrew should pay back any misused funds, Ms Reeves told The i Paper: “Of course”.

Discussing her fellow Cabinet Minister Sir Chris Bryant’s comments branding Andrew as “rude, arrogant and entitled”, Ms Reeves was asked if she agreed.

She said: “Well, I’ve never met [Andrew] and I think that’s probably for the best.”

The late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s former housekeeper, Juan Alessi, previously testified that Andrew had “daily massages” at Epstein’s Florida home.

In a separate claim, a masseuse alleged that she gave Andrew a naked massage and added that this was paid for by the Royal Family.

Andrew’s arrest was due to fears over the chance of a “cover-up” of Andrew’s behaviour during his friendship with Epstein.

Following his arrest at his temporary home on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, Andrew was then quizzed at Aylsham police station for 11 hours before being released under investigation.
