GB News was interrupted for a major breaking news announcement as boxer Anthony Joshua, 36, was caught in a fatal car crash. The news programme put a breaking banner across the bottom of the screen which read Anthony Joshua injured, as the newsreader said: “Breaking news in the last hour, as boxing legend Anthony Joshua has been injured in a car crash in Nigeria. We will bring you more on that story as we get it.”

Aaron Armstrong then said: “We’ll start with that breaking news, as Anthony Joshua has been injured in a car crash that killed two people in Nigeria. I should add that this information is not confirmed at the moment, but it is understood that the two-time heavyweight boxing champion sustained minor injuried when his vehicle collided with a stationary truck along a busy section of the Lagos-Ibadan highway around 11am local time. Prior to the crash, Joshua had posted a video of himself playing table tennis in the country 10 days after his big money fight against Jake Paul.”
