BBC fans were left emotional over the moving documentary on the tragedy which rocked the nation. Our Girls: The Southport Families aired tonight and viewers at home said on social media that they “struggled to watch” the programme. It followed the parents of three young girls who tragically lost their lives during the attack last year. During the documentary, there were deeply personal interviews with the three sets of parents, along with footage of Sergio and David sharing their experience of running the London Marathon to raise funds for their daughters’ legacies.
One person said on X: “Struggling to watch this through the tears. #ourgirls,” whilst a second person also echoed: ” Only 5 minutes into the BBC documentary #OurGirls and it’s simply heartbreaking watching those parents trying to be so brave and restrained. #Southport.”
A third said: “Gonna be heart wrenching this #OurGirls ,wanna watch but also don’t want to watch, poor little darlings.”

A fourth also similarly commented: “Such a tough watch. Bless their little hearts and mine goes out to their parents and families.”

A synopsis on the BBC said: “Last summer, three little girls had excitedly gone to a Taylor Swift-themed dance class and never came home, a tragedy that shocked the nation. Over the last nine months, a small team from BBC Breakfast followed the families’ journey through unimaginable grief and the beginnings of hope.”
