Sh00ting at Manhattan Office Building Leaves Police Officer 𝐃3ad, Multiple Injur3d

A sh00ting incident occurred at 345 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan on July 28, resulting in at least one police officer’s 𝐃3ath, two others critically injur3d, and several more wounded, according to law enforcement sources.

The incident took place around 6:30 PM local time during rush hour when a gunman armed with a rifle broke into the 44-story building that houses organizations including Blackstone and the NFL. Security camera footage shows the suspect wearing a vest, white shirt, sunglasses, and carrying a rifle as he entered the main lobby area.

The New York Police Department also released security camera images showing a man potentially connected to the incident, appearing with a long gun as he passed through the office building entrance. Authorities continue to investigate to fully determine this person’s role.

A witness on the ground floor described the gunshots as “sounding like automatic weapon fire, very loud, very fast – possibly from a weapon with a large magazine.”

The NYPD confirmed the suspect acted alone. The sh00ter barricaded himself inside the building and was later found to have committed suicide on the 33rd floor. Several other victims were also discovered on this floor. It remains unclear which company occupies the 33rd floor.

Among the victims, a police officer from the 47th Precinct – who was working paid security detail for the building owner – was shot at the scene and d!ed at the hospital. Two other civilians were shot, with one in critical condition.

According to police, the scene has been fully secured. Rapid response teams, including the FBI, were immediately deployed. Police cordoned off a large area around Park Avenue from 51st to 52nd Street, instructing residents in nearby buildings to stay indoors and away from windows.

Some office workers in nearby buildings reported receiving announcements over internal speaker systems requesting they “shelter in place and stay away from windows.” Witness Kathleen Benanti shared: “I survived 9/11 and today’s events triggered those memories. I was very scared, but I’m safe now.”

New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams have been briefed and advised residents to avoid the area until further notice.

Police continue to sweep the entire building to ensure no other threats remain while investigating the motive behind the attack. Officials indicated the casualty count may rise as they conduct more thorough searches within the building.
