A senior CNN journalist faced confrontation with an officer during the coverage of the LA pr0tests, as he accused her of being physical while she was capturing video of the event.
Kyung Lah, a seasoned investigative reporter for CNN, was on-site outside a federal detention facility as the Los Angeles police tried to clear the area of pr0testers and media personnel. Broadcasting live on CNN, Lah was depicted speaking into the camera about the ongoing incident.
She reported: “What you’re seeing here are the advancing LAPD. These are officers who have been called to clear this street.” While live on The Lead, Lah continued her report as the advancing line of officers appeared behind her; she followed up with “There’s been a dispersal order issued. They’re trying to clear the street.”
Lah subsequently offered an update, indicating “Okay, we’re being asked to go behind the police,” as she and her CNN coworkers made their way toward the officers, reports the Mirror US.

A moment of confusion ensued concerning a co-worker as Lah was overheard addressing the surrounding cops; “Press. Press. He’s press, he’s with me. He’s with me. He’s with me.”
After which her colleague asserted: “Sir, I’m with CNN. I have my verification. I have my verification right here.”
An officer is then heard responding, “He doesn’t come through. You do.”
As Lah navigated through the officers, one turned askance and barked at her, “Are you grabbing me? !”.

She calmly stated: “No! I didn’t touch you!” before the officer hollered, “Get away from me!” Another officer directed the CNN crew: “We need you guys to go over there. Come on.”
Back in the studio with host Jake Tapper, Lah remarked: “See Jake, it’s a little chaotic.”
A spate of journalism injuries has emerged as violence continued last week in Los Angeles.
Nine News Australia journalist Lauren Tomasi suffered a leg wound after being shot by a rubber bullet during riot coverage. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese strongly reacted, denouncing her injury as “horrific” and unacceptable at the National Press Club.
In other incidents, New York Post photojournalist Toby Canham sustained a head injury from a rubber bullet, leading to whiplash and significant bruising, while CBS Los Angeles reporter Lauren Pozen struggled with tear gas exposure amidst pr0tests.
