Veteran sports presenter Duncan McKenzie-McHarg has sadly passed away at the age of 41. According to reports, the Australian was found dead after falling from the top of a building in Downtown Los Angeles. His formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 3.38pm.
The journalist worked in both Australia and the United States during his successful career, and relocated to America in recent years for work. He’s been a presenter for Channel Seven and Channel Ten as well as the US Correspondent for Fox Sports Australia.
He’d been working as an LA-based sports presenter since 2022, where he was alongside stars such as Australian tennis ace Todd Woodbridge and US athlete Madison Keys.
During his career, he had the chance to interview sporting heavyweights such as Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, Tom Brady and Novak Djokovic.
Heartbroken fans have taken to social media to pay tribute to Duncan, with one writing: “RIP Duncan. We all love you so much.” Another added: “Rest in peace, kiddo. Way too young to have grown those wings.”
A third penned: “Rest in peace,” while a fourth said: “RIP.”
Duncan had recently covered the US Open prior to his death, and he previously said he was inspired to pursue a career in sports journalism after watching his idol, Eddie McGuire, on television.
He told Radio Today in 2023: “I loved how the reporters on TV got to talk about sport, almost in a performative way. Eddie was so quick and versatile.”
The star, who leaves behind his heartbroken family, has been quiet on his Instagram for weeks.
However, shared some heartwarming interview clips with major athletes at the US Open several months ago, featuring players such as Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka.
