Andrew has just shamed the Royal Family and Britain – there’s only one thing left to do

The pompous former prince continues to see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil, writes Giles Sheldrick.

There can be no better example of sickening arrogance and greed than Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

A shameless (and by all accounts charmless) man who for years has heaped embarrassment, shame and ignominy upon his children, the Royal Family, and the country.

It is impossible not to be sickened by what has emerged in relation to his dealings with paedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein.

In the latest tranche of more than three million pages of documents by the US Justice Department (DOJ) Andrew appeared in three images that appear to show the disgraced royal nonentity on all fours over a woman lying motionless on the floor.

The date and circumstances are unknown.

That Andrew and his equally brazen former wife, Sarah Ferguson, were close to Epstein has been known for some time.

But this latest dossier dump sheds new light on their relationship with the ​depraved monster and the manner in which they were beholden to him, from offering access to the Royal Family, loans, and Andrew being set up with women.

Yet, unashamed, the former not-so-grand old Duke of York continues to see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.

In November, he was formally requested by Democratic members of the House Oversight Committee to testify about his “ties” to Epstein.

Although he was under no legal obligation to comply, he did not respond, essentially ignoring the demand, just like he did when the DOJ requested to interview him in 2020.

Virginia Giuffre, then known as Roberts, alleged Epstein trafficked her to his powerful pals, including Andrew, against whom she filed a lawsuit claiming he sexually abused her when she was 17.

She died by suicide in April last year, aged 41, three years after settling a civil sexual assault lawsuit against the disgraced royal in 2022.

It should be stressed that Andrew has consistently and vehemently denied any wrongdoing or impropriety.

Which is why you would think it would not be too much of an inconvenience for him to fly to America and reveal everything he knows about Epstein, whatever that might be, including his network of mates and their influence on them. What did he want, and why did Andrew bend over backwards to assist?

While these deeply disturbing new details emerged, drawing gasps the world over from Balmoral to Brisbane, where was Andrew?

He ​has spent his last remaining days​ at Royal Lodge, lolloping around Windsor on horseback.

The humiliation this work-shy lightweight has lumped on his two daughters and four grandchildren is appalling.

His continued silence ​in refusing to co-operate continues to be the gravest insult possible to Epstein’s many victims.

It is time to drag this ludicrous man of straw, despite his apparent years-long affliction of obliviousness, somewhere he can tell the world what he knows. Kicking and screaming, if necessary.

If not, perhaps his memory will be jogged if he is ever called up on allegations of sexual assault, corruption, and misconduct in public office in a private prosecution action being brought by anti-monarchy campaign group Republic, which has raised funds for a potential legal action after instructing specialists to act because of the collective failure of authorities here to do so.
