Royal fans have debated whether Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie should remain in the line of succession amid their father’s arrest last week and his connection to the late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The sisters are currently ninth and twelfth in the line of succession, with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor eighth in line to the throne.

Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, have not spoken out following Andrew’s arrest on suspicion of misconduct in a public office on February 19. While Andrew was released under investigation on the same day of his arrest, the Government has come under pressure to remove his brother from the line of succession.

Fans were asked in a poll conducted by the Daily Express, which ran between 10.39am on February 23 and 12.10pm on February 25, if Beatrice and Eugenie should be removed from the line of succession.

Out of the 4,183 people who voted in total, a staggering 2,931 people voted that they should be removed, whilst 1,072 felt that they should remain in line to throne.

An additional 180 people shared that they undecided whether they should remain or not.

Taking to the comment section, one wrote: “If their father is removed from the line of succession then surely they, his offspring cannot be in line.”

Another added: “Yes they should be removed.”

A third added: “Surely if [Andrew’s] out of the line, then they must also be!”

As well as their own positions, Beatrice and Eugenie’s children also appear in the line of succession.

Beatrice’s two daughters – four-year-old Sienna and one-year-old Athena – are 10th and 11th, whilst Eugenie’s two sons – five-year-old August and two-year-old Ernest – follow their mum at 13th and 14th.
