GB News presenter Cameron Walker issued an “extraordinary” update in Prince Harry’s latest legal battle against the Daily Mail’s publisher. On Monday (January 19), the dad-of-two returned to the UK “to fight the latest in a long roster of court cases” against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), alongside Sir Elton John and Elizabeth Hurley. The Duke of Sussex, alongside other high-profile figures, has accused the publisher of “abhorrent criminal activity” by gathering information about him through illegal means such as phone-hacking.

On Thursday (January 22), hosts Ellie Costello and Stephen Dixon welcomed the royal correspondent who presented live from outside the High Court in central London. There, he shared a new update from the courtroom just hours after the 41-year-old royal became emotional on the stand.

Sharing a recap from Wednesday’s day in court, Walker began: “Extraordinary scenes here at the High Court in central London. Prince Harry became visibly emotional in court as he described the toll the legal fights against the British tabloids have had on not only his life but that of his family’s, specifically his wife, Meghan, who he says Associated Newspapers made her life a misery.”

The broadcaster went on to add that he spoke to Prince Harry’s lawyer after the royal was cross-examined by Associated Newspapers’ legal team for two-and-a-half hours. He told the presenter: “Today’s cross-examination was revealing in its weakness. Assertive in tone but collapsing immediately under scrutiny from Prince Harry”.

Prince Harry reportedly added: “Today, we reminded the Mail briefly who was on trial and why.” It didn’t take long before viewers flocked to social media to share their frustrations online, as one user penned: “Laying it on thick… I hope the judge didn’t fall for that old trick.”

Another quipped: “That’s fair as she makes all of our lives miserable too,” while a third pointed out: “This case is not about his wife!?” Meanwhile, a fourth echoed: “Aye, must be hard when your life’s a reality show but with enough money to have someone else do the waffling. Maybe a good dose of Yorkshire common sense could sort out the drama!”

The senior royal’s barrister, DAvid Sherborne, told the court earlier this week that the 41-year-old had been suffering with “distress and paranoia” when the slew of articles (dated between 2001 and 2013) poured out about his relationships, both romantic and familial.

He told the court that the articles “focus primarily and in a highly intrusive and damaging way, on the relationships which he formed, or rather tried to form, during those years prior to meeting his now wife, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.”
Meanwhile, the defence Antony White KC argued that the claimants, including Elton John and Elizabeth Hurley, were “clutching at straws in the wind” because a lot of their friends in their social circles are known to be “leakey” and regularly provide stories about their private lives to the press.
