A CNN reporter was forced to seek shelter in the middle of a broadcast after alarms went off following the US and I.sra.el’s att@ck on Iran. As she spoke to camera the loud warnings could be heard going off. Remaining calm she said: “I’m Becky Anderson in Abu Dhabi with the alarms going off here, suggesting we should seek immediate shelter in the closest source. So we’ll do that,” she said reassuring viewers: “Our breaking news coverage continues after this short break. Stay with us.”
Abu Dhabi along with Dubai has been rocked by explosions following the February 28 US strikes on Iran, which have sparked fears of the outbreak of World War III. In a video announcing the initial att@ck, US President D.on.al.d Tru.m.p urged the Iranian people: “When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will be probably your only chance for generations… For many years, you have asked for America’s help, but you never got it.”
As Tehran’s regime fired back at I.sra.el the Palm Jumeirah Fairmont Hotel was struck by a missile and explosions have rocked cities across the Gulf as Iran launched retaliatory missile strikes.
Air-defence systems were activated in several countries as missiles targeted sites linked to American forces, and debris fell in residential areas.
The UAE have confirmed one civilian was k!lled in Abu Dhabi, while Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia also reported interceptions.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said in the first phase of its retaliation, named “Truthful Promise 4”, Iran’s military struck the command of the US 5th Fleet in Bahrain, US bases in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates as well as military targets in I.sra.el.

Smoke was also spotted over a US base near an airport in Irbil, the regional capital of Iraq’s semi-autonomous northern Kurdish region.
A video posted on social media also showed tourists in Dubai running from a poolside area as two intercepted missiles left plumes of smoke in the sky above the city. The clip captured people shouting in shock as air-defence systems engaged overhead.
International diplomats are racing to prevent a full-scale war between Washington and Tehran.
While the US maintains its right to self-defence, the involvement of Russia and the threat to Gulf stability have triggered urgent calls for a ceasefire at the UN.
