Peacock slashed five shows from its roster, and fans have become outraged with the media company’s latest move.

Last month, it was announced that the horror-thriller shows Teacup and Hysteria! were being cut after their respective debut season. Also on a tab to be axed are Mr. Throwback and the dark comedy, Based on a True Story, starring Kaley Cuoco. As of now, another show Peacock is cancelling is Laid, which stars Stephanie Hsu as Ruby Yao. In the series, Ruby (Stephanie) realizes that her ex-sex partners are dying off in the order she had relations with them.

While the show ended on a thrilling cliffhanger that would have made for a good second season, Peacock has decided not to renew Laid, which is disappointing many fans. Countless have raged that Laid was hardly promoted properly with marketing ads, and therefore, the show “didn’t get a fair chance” to thrive.

“This was a lovely show. They did no promotions btw,” one wrote after the news was announced.

“Where was the promo they didn’t even get a chance,” said a second, and a third echoed, “Ugh!! This is the worst!!”

“Another case of original ideas being ignored to the point of letting them rot and die,” a fourth shared. There were others who divulged that they were upset that they’ll now never know what happens after the cliffhanger.

Meanwhile, others commented, “Peacock should just give up on original content. They’re obviously not good at keeping a show past 2 seasons.”

Many Peacock fans were also livid that the streamer was getting rid of Based On A True Story. “I found out Based on a True Story was recently canceled and I’m so bummed,” one complained.

One angry viewer ranted, “Very disappointed to hear that you have canceled Based on a True Story after 2 seasons. I am probably going to cancel my paid subscription and just boycott your channel altogether. The show received a 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Very stupid decision.”

According to The U.S. Sun, “The first season of Based on a True Story premiered in June 2023 with a second following in November last year.”
