Country singer Lorrie Morgan shared that her husband of almost 15 years, Randy White, has died from mouth cancer.

“Randy has been my partner, my champion and my rock for 17 years. Our big, wonderful family and I are devastated at the loss of this truly kind and incredible man. I was blessed by his love. Ran-Ran, I will love and miss you forever,” Morgan, a member of the Grand Ladies of the Opry, said in a statement shared with TODAY.com.

The couple married in September 2010 in a beachside wedding.

In 2024, Morgan announced that doctors had diagnosed White, a retired entrepreneur, with mouth cancer and that he was undergoing treatment. In April, the “Five Minutes” singer canceled concerts and events for two weeks when White was readmitted to a hospital, according to a statement at the time.

White, who owned a landscaping business, was born on May 15, 1953, according to People. Between Morgan’s two children and White’s four children, they couple shares 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild with a second on the way, Morgan’s statement noted.

Morgan’s son, Jesse Keith Whitely, shared some memories of White on Facebook.

“I can say that the recent years of my life all the way back to when I was 22-23 years old this great man has been here and loved my mom, and also me & my sister as we were his own,” Whitely, also a country singer, wrote. “He has been the best grandfather for my kids they could ever ask for. … He has shown unconditional love to my mother and been the most gentle soul to ever grace this family. As we say our goodbyes, I reminisce of all the good times we have had & the battles he has helped me overcome.”

Mouth cancer can develop on the lips, gums, tongue, cheeks, roof or floor of the mouth and falls under the umbrella of head and neck cancer, according to the Mayo Clinic. Doctors treat it similarly to other head and neck cancers.

No final arrangements have been planned yet, the statement said.
