UNACCEPTABLE: Tina O’Brien EXPOSES the Truth About Ryan Thomas’ “TRUE NATURE” After Fiery Call Clash

They were once Coronation Street’s golden couple — young, successful, adored by fans and blessed with a beautiful daughter.

But behind the glossy smiles and on-screen romance, the real-life relationship between Tina O’Brien and Ryan Thomas unravelled in spectacular fashion, leaving behind bitterness, public accusations and a feud that continues to resurface years later.

The pair met on the set of Coronation Street and dated for six years, beginning in 2003. At the time, Tina — who had joined the soap in 1999 as Sarah Platt — described their relationship as one built to last.

“We’ll be together forever,” she said. “I can’t see myself with anyone else.”

Two years later, life began to mirror art as their characters Sarah and Jason Grimshaw embarked on a passionate on-screen romance. Fans were convinced the fairy tale would continue off screen too.

But by 2009, the dream was over.

‘He Said He Didn’t Love Me Anymore’

The split came just a year after the couple welcomed their daughter Scarlett, now 15 and a rising star herself on Waterloo Road.

Speaking at the time, a devastated Tina said Ryan had told her she “didn’t do it for him anymore”.

“Those were his words,” she said. “I was absolutely devastated.”

She later added that Ryan had admitted he didn’t want “the responsibility” of being in a relationship with her, describing him as loving — but also “laddy” and keen to go out frequently.

The breakup marked the end of their romantic relationship, but not the end of their connection.

Trying to Move On — For Their Daughter

In the years that followed, Tina and Ryan attempted to put their differences aside for the sake of Scarlett.

Tina went on to marry Adam Crofts after seven years together, welcoming a son, Beau. In a show of goodwill, Ryan was even invited to their wedding in 2018.

Ryan publicly praised Adam as a stepfather, saying:
“As a stepfather in Scarlett’s life, I’ve hit the jackpot. She adores him.”

Tina herself later admitted that rebuilding a civil relationship with her ex took years of effort.

“It’s taken a lot of biting my tongue,” she said. “But for Scarlett, it’s been worth it.”

Ryan meanwhile moved on with TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh, with whom he now shares two children and is engaged.

For a time, the blended families appeared to coexist peacefully.

But Tensions Never Fully Disappeared

Behind the scenes, sources say the relationship between Tina and Ryan remained strained.

“They’re not on good terms,” one insider claimed. “That tension has been bubbling under the surface for years.”

In 2022, things reportedly reached breaking point.

Tina was accused of smashing Ryan’s Range Rover with a baseball bat during a furious late-night confrontation, leaving a wing mirror broken and the paintwork scratched.

Sources claimed the incident occurred around 1am after Tina had been out partying with friends. Ryan reportedly drove away as quickly as possible, shaken by what had unfolded.

The two are said not to have spoken since, with insiders describing Ryan as “furious” over the alleged damage.

Cryptic Posts and Public Swipes

The feud resurfaced again last year when Tina shared a pointed quote on social media about “tyrannical narcissistic fathers”.

The post described such a person as “a bully — a cruel, lying, arrogant individual” and warned of the long-term emotional damage caused to families.

Tina added her own words beneath the quote:
“Thankfully not my dad… but a dad I know very well. Deeply resonates.”

The timing raised eyebrows, coming just hours after reports of a heated phone argument between the former couple over their daughter.

“They rarely speak these days,” a source said. “And when they do, it often ends in conflict.”

From Fairytale to Fallout

Once the poster couple of soap-star romance, Tina O’Brien and Ryan Thomas now stand as an example of how quickly love can sour under pressure, fame and unresolved resentment.

While both have moved on with new partners and families, their shared past — and shared child — means their turbulent history continues to cast a long shadow.

What began as a youthful love story on Britain’s most famous cobbles has become a cautionary tale of heartbreak, blame and wounds that never fully healed.
