Gordon Ramsay insists his wedding speech for daughter Holly and Adam Peaty was ‘perfect and warm’ as he doubles down in defiant This Morning interview after sparking outrage

Gordon Ramsay has insisted that his wedding speech for his daughter Holly as she married former Olympian Adam Peaty was ‘perfect and warm’, doubling down after sparking outrage with the athlete’s mother.

The TV chef took to This Morning alongside his younger daughter, Tilly, 24, on Monday morning, where he opened up on watching Holly, 26, wed Adam, 31.

The couple were married at Bath Abbey on December 27 with a reception following at the swanky Kin House – amid a bitter fallout with his family which saw his mother Caroline uninvited from proceedings.

The Sun reported that in his father of the bride speech Gordon commented on how beautiful Holly looked and told Adam he was a ‘lucky man’, adding: ‘Look at Tana and that’s what you have to look forward to.’

The publication goes on to claim that Gordon couldn’t resist a sly dig at Adam’s absent parents he told his daughter Holly: ‘Shame you don’t have the same.’

It was later revealed that swimmer Adam’s estranged mother had been left ‘outraged’ and ‘hurt’ that Gordon referred to their bitter family feud in his explosive father of the bride speech.

A family source told the Daily Mail she was left horrified by the moment in the speech and believes the celebrity chef had ‘pre planned’ the cruel swipe against her, calling it ‘cruel’ and ‘very hurtful’.

But Gordon doubled down on his speech as he appeared alongside This Morning hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, insisting that what he had to say at the wedding reception was ‘perfect and warm’.

Gordon said: ‘It’s tough, honestly. Being the dad with three daughters, you dream of that moment and that moment arrives and you’re just like a hot mess.

‘But, the speech was perfect, it went well and you’ve got to find that… You’ve got to be warm, emotional… It’s a tough gig.’

Daughter Tilly admitted that she had listened to the speech ahead of the big day, chiming in: ‘I think it was Christmas Eve, I was sat in his room for an hour as he was just reading through it.

‘Going through everything but no tweaks were needed, it was perfect. It made everybody cry.’

Last week, bride Holly defended her father’s speech despite Caroline’s outrage, saying she felt ‘overwhelmed with happiness’ during it.

In an interview with British Vogue, Holly shared a photo of herself and Adam smiling and laughing during Gordon’s speech.

‘Listening to dad’s speech, looking around the room and feeling overwhelmed with the love and the happiness on our guests’ faces,’ she said.

In another jibe at the estranged Peaty family, Holly revealed that her parents paid for her and Adam’s luxurious Honeymoon to Mauritius, saying it was their ‘wedding present’.

She added: ‘We’re going to Mauritius to just lie by the sea – that was our wedding present from my parents. I had to tell Adam we weren’t basing our honeymoon around a 25-metre pool…’

Holly shared numerous snaps of the wedding with the fashion publication, including a rather awkward one of Holly and Adam posing with her parents and David and Victoria Beckham.

With Adam’s parents not in attendance at the wedding, they stood alongside the groom in the photo with Gordon and Tana alongside Holly.

Adam is thought to have not mentioned his family or parents in his speech, instead praising his swim coach Mel Marshall for being his ‘everything’, and for ‘grounding and inspiring’ him.

Holly divulged several details about the wedding, revealing she and Adam had their first dance to George Michael’s A Different Corner, saying they had the song picked when they first began dating.

She also described her father-daughter dance with Gordon as ‘so special’.

Holly swept into her wedding in Bath Abbey on the arm of her celebrity chef father, but kept her lace gown concealed beneath a billowing hooded ivory cloak.

Sitting at home more than 130 miles away in Staffordshire, Adam’s broken–hearted mother Caroline was said to be ‘beside herself’ with grief at missing what should have been one of the happiest days of her life.

Speaking from the council house where Adam grew up, the 59–year–old told The Mail on Sunday: ‘I’m not going to be hurt like this again’.

She had told Daily Mail that she felt as if Holly and Adam ‘have cut my heart out’.

This newspaper can also reveal that, moments before he walked into the abbey clutching the hand of his five–year–old son George, Adam was sent a devastating text message by his aunt Louise, who was also not invited to the wedding.

In it, she wrote: ‘I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through and despite it all she loves you still. Shame on you both. Shame.

‘Remember on this, your happiest day, and on each anniversary of your happiest day, that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams.’

The roots of the family conflict go back to September 2024, when Adam and Holly snubbed wider members of the Peaty family by not inviting them to their engagement party.

Caroline, who spent years ferrying her son to early–morning training sessions, was also not invited to Holly’s glamorous hen do at Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds, even though the bride’s mother, Tana Ramsay, and friends including Victoria Beckham, were at the extravagant bash.

Despite everything Caroline sent a card and gift to her newlywed son for his 31st birthday today.

Meanwhile, Adam’s 73–year–old great–aunt Janet, who was also left out of the wedding, told The Mail on Sunday: ‘I just feel so sorry for Caroline.

‘I can’t believe he’s done this to his mother who’s done so much for him from an early age. To be treated like this is not kind.’

Despite being shunned, devastated Caroline had threatened to turn up at the wedding anyway – and, if barred from entering the abbey, stand outside and watch from the street.

She said that she changed her mind after her husband Mark convinced her it would be ‘too upsetting’ to go along.

Had she defied her son’s ban, she would have found herself face–to–face with five security guards, placed in front of the abbey’s ancient and elaborately carved wooden doors, which were framed by decorative columns of white roses and hydrangeas.

The Peaty family were all uninvited from the nuptials, aside from Adam’s sister Beth who was a bridesmaid.

According to reports, Adam’s father Mark was the only person beside Beth asked to attend their big day, however he was told he’d have to sit at the back ‘behind the plus ones’.

After being kicked off the invite list, Adam’s estranged brother James posted an old photograph with their mother Caroline Peaty standing outside of the wedding venue.

Elsewhere, a family friend close to Caroline explained that she had been left ‘hurt’ by the comments made by Gordon at the wedding.

They continued: ‘Gordon saying Tana will be a good mum to them both makes Caroline sound like a bad mum. It was a cruel dig at her.

‘She has always done her best for all her children. She is a very good mum. Who says this wasn’t pre-planned.?’

The source added: ‘We may not have much as a family but we have values.’

Adam meanwhile has made a huge statement about his future family ties by changing his name on social media to Adam Ramsay Peaty.
