Jenna Bush Hager has given a long awaited update for fans on her process to finding Hoda Kotb’s replacement on the TODAY Show.
After the pair shared an emotional, tear-filled reunion on-air last week, viewers are eager to hear what the latest update is in replacing Hoda on the show. In an interview with People, Jenna shared, “We’re still searching. We definitely want somebody permanent at some point just because that’s our show, and I think the Today show is such a family.”
The 43-year-old journalist continued, “So to have somebody sit in that seat means a lot to all of us. So it will happen. I think we’ve all just been kind of living day by day, and we don’t have any developments yet, but we will.”
In January of this year, Hoda stepped down from her position on the TODAY Show after 17 years, after co-anchoring the show from 2007 to 2025. She first joined the TODAY Show as a co-host of the fourth hour, and later became a co-anchor of the 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. time slots.

Speaking on being behind the desk with Hoda once again, Jenna told People, “It was so nice,” and added, “Even if time goes by, there’s a connection that is undeniable, and I felt that way being with her.”
She continued, “I just felt like my nervous system kind of relaxed, and it was so nice to be with her. There could have been no better reunion. It felt really great.”
On the morning show Hoda and Jenna would share lively conversations on domestic and international news. The pair would touch on a wide variety of topics including politics, business, media, entertainment, sports, and more.
