GB News presenter Camilla Tominey was forced to interrupt her Sunday (March 1) programme for urgent breaking news from the Middle East. During the programme, the broadcaster was joined by former British Ambassador to Iran, Nicholas Hopton, to discuss the death of Ir@n’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This comes after media reports confirmed that the 86-year-old’s body was discovered amongst the rubble after a strike from the United States and Israel.

However, their discussion was suddenly halted when a siren warning of incoming missiles rang. As he was sharing his thoughts, Camilla interjected: “Just going to interrupt you, Nicholas, just to say we are listening to sirens right now, ringing out across Israel in Tel Aviv.” The presenter added: “We’re seeing pictures now because of the imminent threat of Iranian retaliation.” As the haunting sounds could be heard, GB News aired a live feed from Israel, which showed armed soldiers taking their place in anticipation of what could come next.

Camilla continued: “Missile launches have been detected from Iran. We have had a lot of very stern talk from Iran about retaliation, about seeking vengeance, about revenge.

“Now we’re seeing the people of Israel once again take cover as the sirens ring out with the threat of an Iranian attack.”

These warnings come after US-Israeli forces launched “pre-emptive” strikes on Iran on Saturday (February 28). Tehran has since fired retaliatory rockets across the Middle East over the past 24 hours.

Millions of Israelis were reported to run for b0mb shelters overnight – with some deciding to sleep there while Iran continues to launch a wave of missiles on Tel Aviv.

Israeli media have claimed that around three million Israelis cannot access b0mb shelters, which has driven people to sleep in underground stations.

Beyond Israel, Iran has also hit the US base in Bahrain, as well as cities across the UAE, Kuwait and Qatar.

In addition to military conflict, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard on Sunday vowed “severe, decisive and regret-inducing punishment”.

The Iranian Red Crescent said more than 200 people have been killed since Saturday morning.

According to the Iranian Health Ministry, more than 60 students were killed and 80 more injured in a strike at a girls’ school in Minab, a city in Hormozgan province.
