When it comes to celebrating Christmas, celebrities are just like everyone else and want to spend the day with their loved ones. When Express.co.uk asked several well-known faces what their plans were for Christmas Day, it was no surprise that family featured heavily. However, some of them still managed to put a spin on traditional festivities, either spending it in exotic climes or simply cramming it in between their panto performances.
As the nation gets set to sit down to their festive feast and watch the King’s speech, Express.co.uk takes a look at how some of the UK’s favourite famous faces are spending the day.

Tyger Drew-Honey
The Outnumbered star is appearing in panto in Beauty and the Beast at Fareham Live until January 4, so he is booked into an Airbnb with his wife, Fluke Chitphuang, for the duration. But he revealed he will still manage to have a family Christmas.
“What I tend to do is from the show you finish on Christmas Eve to the show you do Boxing Day afternoon, you’ve got a day and a half of that Christmas Eve, Day and Boxing Day period. And that’s because you’ve sort of missed out on a bit of the run-up, because you’ve been so busy, the Christmas sensation in those that day or two is so heightened.
“I’m ripping off my costume of the show on Christmas Eve and getting out of the theatre as fast as I can. And I really do feel that sense of Christmasiness that only really exists in fantastic Christmas movies. The almost over-the-top sense of Christmas Eve-ness that we’d all love to feel, but don’t always really feel.
“Because my wife and I move down to where I’m performing, we will still have our evenings together. And then my parents, who live abroad, come over and stay with us, right next to the panto, from about the 20th to the 30th of December. So I still feel like I get a good family Christmas – much more condensed and heightened, but still a good one.”

Nick Knowles
Nick has been looking forward to having a quiet Christmas after a busy few months. On top of his TV work, he has recently been working with Smart Energy GB to highlight how smart meters can help people access energy reward schemes. But there will be no work talk on Christmas Day.
“It’s just quiet family time,” he said. “That’s the nice thing at this time of year, when sort of TV stops and slows down. Most things have been pre-recorded and ready to go. It means I can actually spend time with family and have a very quiet Christmas at home.”

Scarlett Moffatt
TV presenter Scarlett, who is one of the contestants in the festive special of Strictly Come Dancing, will be watching the BBC show with her family as it was recorded in advance.
“I’m heading home for Christmas, and my mum and dad and Scott (Dobinson, her partner) are going to be there, and my little sister and I’re all going to watch Strictly. The fact that my little boy – because we watch it every year at Christmas – and the fact that we all get to watch it, and Jude gets to watch his mum, dance…I’ll probably be crying on Christmas Day,” she confessed.

Laura Hamilton
A Place In The Sun host Laura will be welcoming loved ones into her home on Christmas Day.
“I’m hosting Christmas this year for my family at home in Surrey! I’m giving the dining room a makeover in time for it and currently wallpapering,” she said in advance of the day.

Craig Rowe
The festive season is all about family fun for Craig. “My partner and I head to Bristol for Christmas Eve just in time for my nieces to open their Christmas Eve box that my sister always gets them as a little tradition. Then it’s hot chocolate, games and a cosy Christmas movie.
“On Christmas morning the music is blasting, the kids are unwrapping presents, and my sister and I are in the kitchen with a Bucks Fizz and starting Christmas lunch – sometimes we have a traditional British Xmas lunch other times we’ll have a Jamaican festive meal and add the trimmings; there’s no way I’m going without roast potatoes!” he exclaimed.
“We remember loved ones with a prayer, and later the dancing begins — with my niece Ruby on DJ duty and neighbours popping in for a drink. It’s joyful, chaotic, and exactly how I love to spend Christmas.”

Jasmine Harman
A Place In The Sun star Jasmine now lives in Spain but she revealed she is coming home for a traditional family Christmas.
“We’re heading to the UK to spend Christmas with our family.
We always have a lavish vegan spread, and I’m super excited about my Christmas vegan cheese board from Kinda Co., which I can’t get in Spain.
“On Boxing Day, we’re going to see a panto. I’m even quite excited about being cosy indoors whilst it’s freezing outside, because the weather where I live in Spain has been so warm for December!” she said.

Tommy Cannon
Comedy legend Tommy Cannon is enjoying his first Christmas off in 40 years, as he usually performs in panto. This is the first year he hasn’t taken a role in the festive family favourite. However, fans can still catch him as he is back on screens as That’s TV are broadcasting his classic Cannon and Ball show.
He will be enjoying Christmas at home with his family, but he quipped, “It won’t be a quiet one with all the grandkids running about!”

Jean Johansson
Jean may be best known for presenting A Place In The Sun, but she is spending her festive season in the snow.
“I’m going to our house in Finland this year which will likely be covered in snow. My husband is Finnish and we like to do all the Scandinavian traditions, so we’ll celebrate in December 24 with a cooked ham, meatballs and herring!” she said.
