Holly Valance slammed for using offensive slur’

Holly Valance has been slammed after using a “disgusting” slur during an appearance on GB News. The former Neighbours star and pop star turned right wing campaigner was appearing on the news channel when she was called out on her shocking choice of language.

The 42-year-old left the host completely taken aback, as he explained that the swipe she used would be deemed offensive to people. Holly was on the show after it emerged that her “anti-woke” track, Kiss Kiss (XX) My A**e, that was used in the soundtrack for Pauline Hanson’s new movie, A Super Progressive Movie has been banned from Apple Music.

Valance told host Josh Howie on Free Speech Nation on Monday: ‘During Covid was the big like tester to see.. like the r****d meter. And Australia was quite high on that.’

Howie quickly apologised saying: “Sorry for using that word, that’s ok, but it’s ok, you used that word, I think some people, unfortunately, might be offended.” But Holly attempted to try and cover her tracks, saying: “Hey, are we not a Free Speech Nation over here?”

The host replied “You’re right, you’ve got me there, we’re Free Speech Nation apart from that word!” Since the clip aired on Monday night, Holly has been slammed on social media, with one person writing: “Some irrelevant trying to stay relevant.”

A second went on to add: “It was a derogatory term for people with mental disabilities and is/was out of favour. There are other definitions outside this but the context and tone is used by people to denigrate others.” While a third typed: “It is a horrid word. You should hope that you never have children with special needs – because those who do really understand why it is not an ok word to use in conversation. It shows your lack of vocabulary frankly.”

Another called it a ‘disgusting word, “slandering intellectually disabled people. Do better,” they told the Aussie star. Valance released her latest single on Australia Day in collaboration with Hanson’s new movie, which takes aim at “snowflakes”.

Opening lyrics include: “You will respect my pronouns,” taking aim at members of the trans community with the lyric: “Not all ladies have ovaries, some… have a penis”. Holly later sings that she is a “real biological woman”.

But the track soon shot to the top of the Australian charts within hours, beating Olivia Dean with Man I Need and Harry Styles. However, it didn’t last long, and it was rapidly pulled from Apple Music before being reinstated.

Valance claims that she was given no warning that the song was being yanked from the streaming service. She told the outlet: “We never received any email officially from iTunes or Apple or anybody, so I was like ‘What’s going on?’” The Australian-born singer who now lives in the UK and is a firm supporter of Reform UK added: “It was actually X people told me. And so he looked into it and were like, ‘Oh my God, it’s been removed’.”

However, Ms Valance claims that the backlash surrounding the track was “perfect” for her. She said: “That’s how I wanted it to go, because it gave us free PR, people got up in arms about it, backed me, backed the project, backed Pauline. It helped the film.”
