This upcoming week on Emmerdale will see things take a shocking turn for Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) and his illicit car thefts. Although he operates the local garages, over the years, the mechanic has blurred the lines between legitimate repairs and illegal car handling, and things could come to blows in the coming episodes. Here are some spoilers for your favourite ITV soap opera …
1. Cain forms an unlikely alliance
After Cain and Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) stole Joe Tate’s (Ned Porteous) car, Joe wants to seek revenge and tasks Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough)with the job. This leaves Kim Tate (Claire King) resentful over Graham’s attempt to reconcile with Joe. Meanwhile, at the farm, Cain is stressed about his finances and secretly battling cancer, although Sarah is keen to get nicking more cars, Cain is reluctant.
Meanwhile, as Graham sneaks into the house to retrieve the DeLorean car keys and he spots Cain’s oncology letter and is caught red-handed; surprisingly, Graham easily overpowers an exhausted Cain. Graham later returns the car to Joe, who is lying, claiming that joyriders were to blame, leaving Kim suspicious.
Graham then returns to visit Cain, revealing he knows about the cancer, urging him to tell his wife, Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) and focus on his health instead of fighting the Tates. Kim then sees the two men share a handshake of mutual respect and concludes that they’re “in cahoots.”
The next day, Kim convinces Joe to test Graham’s loyalty to the mechanic by suggesting that he sabotage Cain’s farm machinery. But will Graham do it? When Sarah works out that Cain is planning one last car theft, he forbids her from joining him. But can Cain stop his granddaughter from being a true Dingle?

2. A farm emergency sparks chaos
Elsewhere in the Dales, there is a farm emergency as the sheep are trapped in a collapsing barn caused by a fallen tree.
It’s stressful for Cain, who is already fighting a secret health battle with prostate cancer, and as he tries to rally everyone into action, the last person he expects to see approaching is Graham, but soon they celebrate success after saving the flock.
Visiting Moira in the prison, Cain’s high spirits after the rescue are dampened on seeing that his wife was given a gruelling black eye in a prison fight, but after a resolute Moira reminds him she’s a born fighter, we see his visit has given her fresh hope.

3. Ray’s funeral causes demons to re-emerge
Ray Walters’ (Joe Absolom) burial is impending, and he has left Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) with complicated feelings about the dead drug lord. Laurel Thomas’ (Charlotte Bellamy) conscience won’t allow Ray to be buried with no one at the service, and she asks Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) to attend on behalf of her.
Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) and Dylan vow to keep Ray’s burial a secret from Bear Wold (Joshua Richards) in case it reawakens his trauma. Later, Laurel decides to attend with Charles and Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson).
Seeing Bear across the road, Claudette unwittingly lets the cat out of the bag, and Bear insists on going with them, despite Laurel’s protestations. When Paddy learns where Bear has been, he unravels, knowing how seeing Ray’s body could break Bear, and he rants at Laurel for allowing Bear to attend.
When Bear rages in his face, Paddy’s pained to see his dad’s been broken all over again. It’s clear Bear’s spiralling, and things get worse when Manpreet refuses to prescribe the painkillers he desperately craves. Laurel then finds Bear drinking on his own, and she tries to get him to open up and promises to be there for him.
Meanwhile, Arthur Thomas (Alfie Clarke) struggles to learn that Laurel went to Ray’s burial, and although Laurel tries to be understanding of Arthur’s anger, a tense standoff ends with Arthur accidentally pushing her down the stairs. With Laurel in the hospital, will his secret be exposed? Distressed and craving his sleeping pills, Bear takes himself to the hospital with a cut hand, but will he get the help he needs?
