Soap fans hoping to see Emmerdale and Coronation Street on ITVX or ITV1 today will be left disappointed.
For the second time in a week, the soaps have been pulled from schedules. Yet again the sports coverage has taken their usual time slots, and the soaps have been replaced.
Earlier this week it was live football coverage that was to blame, while on Thursday it’s the rugby. Viewers are not impressed at all, calling for ITV to make a big change after years of missing out due to sports.
Despite fans being promised both soaps would air five days a week on streaming and on ITV, for the second time in January fans have not had that. The soaps moved to their new power hour, as decided by ITV, at the start of the month.

Corrie and Emmerdale now air 30-minute episodes every day, Monday to Friday. They drop as usual on ITVX in the morning, before airing on ITV1 that evening.
So to have this constantly disrupted and one month in to not have this new format, has left many fans raging online. Taking to social media, viewers begged ITV to move the sports elsewhere, or still air the soaps on another channel.
One fan fumed: “Football needs a dedicated channel on ITV this is just ridiculous. My Nan relies on these soaps every evening just to make her feel she has company.”
Another fan said: “First #Emmerdale gets moved from 7pm to 7.30, so as not to clash with other things, then its moved to 8pm & half hour removed… and yet STILL we lose episodes to the boring football? @ITV this is getting silly.”

A third fan posted: “If we must have football in the week just put #emmerdale & #corrie on #itv2. Why do those of us who hate football have to suffer.”
The complaints kept on coming with one reading: “Here we go again @ITV no soaps Tues or Thursday due to sport. Why can’t you put sport on @ITVX.” Another claimed: “They deserve to lose a lot of followers. As people say lots of elderly people like it with no interest in football.”
A final comment read: “Yawn itv is allowed to show another stuff ! Soaps fans have the tv Monday to Friday 20/25 hours a month . When the SPORTS IS NOT ON . ITV have already said soaps don’t make them any money.”
