Celebrity Big Brother has featured some of the most explosive TV clashes over the years, and the most memorable row from 2012 was no doubt between Denise Welch and Nicola McLean. The infamous clash led to a long-standing feud which still hasn’t been resolved 13 years later. The incident took place when a drunken Denise, 67, pulled down the pyjama bottoms of Playboy model Karissa Shannon while she was dancing. Nicola, 44, witnessed the prank and demanded Denise apologise, believing it was unacceptable.

The argument escalated when the Loose Women star claimed she didn’t do anything wrong because Shannen was a Playboy model. This infuriated Nicola, a former glamour model herself, who argued that someone’s profession doesn’t justify pulling someone’s clothes off without consent. The row caused a huge divide within the house, while Denise doubled down and refused to apologise. Nicola opened up about the incident with Express.co.uk, admitting she still isn’t over it years later because she doesn’t feel like she got justice from the situation.

Speaking on behalf of WhichBingo, Nicola said she believes Denise would have likely been kicked out of the house if the incident took place today.

She said: “I was right. I will die on the sword that I was right. And if it was this day and age, everyone would have been saying I was right. I told Denise she needed to apologise because you can’t just go around pulling people’s pants down. She said, ‘Well, they do that for a living.’ I was gobsmacked. I was an ex-Page three girl. So is it right for someone to expose my boobs? I don’t get it. And everyone sided with Denise. She won it. How?

“Because if it was now, she’d probably be kicked out for it. This is my adhd but there’s still an unjust situation in that house that really bothers me all these years later. It still bothers me that I was fast forward in the mind that we can’t just expose people.

Recalling how she responded in the moment, the I’m A Celebrity star continued: “I threw the biggest tantrum. Listen, I still throw tantrums now. I can’t help it. It’s not over not getting my own way. Absolutely not. I’m easy going, but if there’s a situation that’s unjust and people aren’t seeing it, as I say, my adhd, I’ve got a really strong sense of justice.

“If I’m not getting justice for something, I’m losing my s**t. I will stamp my feet. I stood at the top of those stairs and said, ‘I don’t like any of these people.’ It’s so funny, but it’s so outrageous. And then to get up the next day and I just thought f**k them. I started making homemade soup and then slowly everyone was coming out and asking if I was alright.”

Nicola revealed she has never crossed paths since leaving the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2012, but did wander what would transpire if they saw each other again.

“We’ve never spoken. I wonder what would happen if we had seen each other. I don’t know. She’s probably forgotten all about it because it was so long ago and she came out of it fine. For me, as I say, my strong sense of justice, I still can’t work it out,” she explained.

The TV personality did feature in Denise’s autobiography, where she recounted their row and added what Nicola described as some “snidey s**t”.

She explained: “I think she tried to make out that because I did all the cooking and cleaning, that I was trying to manipulate the house like that. No. I’m just a mum. My husband and my sons don’t lift a finger. I do everything. If you’re sick, don’t expect anything from me.

“But other than that, I’m a natural caregiver. I will cook. I take the boys breakfast in bed every day because that’s what I’m like. So I was just being me in there. But she wrote some snidey s**t. But I don’t care about that bit. I just still think it was wrong what she did and it pisses me off to this day.”
