Piers Morgan takes swipe at Good Morning Britain after breaking his hip
After his hospital dash, Piers Morgan clearly thought he should be top of the Good Morning Britain news agenda and took to X to make his point to Susanna Reid and Ed Balls

Piers Morgan took aim at Good Morning Britain after they were slow to report the weekend’s “big news” – his hip operation.
Bed-bound Piers tuned in to the show he worked on until his explosive departure in 2021 and wasn’t happy that his dramatic hospitalisation wasn’t top of the agenda. Susanna Reid, Kate Garraway and Ed Balls were discussing the latest headlines and Piers, up early as he continues his recovery, wanted a little more attention.
After not hearing himself mentioned, he took to twitter to register his frustration. Tweeting a photo of the newspaper coverage, he grumbled: “I think you guys are missing the big news today @susannareid100 @edballs @GMB.” It sounds like his complaint got through.
It wasn’t long before Susanna referenced his hospital stay, remarking that it was “blue Monday”, calling it “the most miserable day of the year”. She said: “Not a great morning for our good friend Piers Morgan, although I have to say, he is recovering well in hospital.
“That was the picture he posted on Instagram. He has a new hip, so good luck with your recovery. I think he’s going to be in the hospital for a few days as he recovers. I think he’s going to be in the hospital for a few days as he recovers.
“I did offer to turn up with grapes, but he says he has enough to open a vineyard, so I was rebuffed.” She added: “There was a restaurant involved and a stumble, and a whole new hip. So get well soon, Piers.”
Piers, 60, stunned fans after sharing a picture from hospital and announced that he had fractured his femur so badly that he required a hip replacement. Piers explained he had tripped while dining at a restaurant and would have to use crutches to aid his mobility for several weeks.

He shared a photo from a hospital bed, as well as a close up snap of his X-ray, and said: “Breaking news! 1. Tripped on a small step. 2. In a London hotel restaurant. 3. Fractured femur. 4. So badly I needed a new hip. 5. Recovering in hospital. 6. Crutches for 6wks. 7. No long-haul for 12 wks. 8. New Year off to a cracking start! 9. I blame Donald Trump.”
Blame on Donald Trump comes almost two decades after they first becamae friends, which all started when Piers took part in The Celebrity Apprentice 2008, which, back then, was headed by Trump. Piers made it to the final, and eventually won, with Trump telling him: “Piers, you were tactless, ruthless, aggressive, hard, possibly brilliant, you knocked them all out one by one – you win.” From that moment a bond was made and Piers has previously said they get along because they are so similar.
