Strictly’s Vicky Pattison issues major update ahead of live show

Strictly Come Dancing star Vicky Pattison has issued a major update about her upcoming performance, following her impressive performance and the judges’ praise for her Icons Week routine. With just a day before she returns to screens, the 37-year-old took to Instagram and gave fans a “sneak peek” into Halloween week. This comes after she and her professional partner, Kai Widdrington, were in joint second on the leaderboards with a well-deserved 33 points.

They had danced a couple’s choice to Fight For This Love by Cheryl, and Vicky was dressed as the Girls Aloud icon when she scored her highest points so far in the competition. With viewers eager to see the star-studded contest return this weekend, Vicky addressed her 5.5 million followers and unveiled her costume for Saturday’s live show. The reality star reshared a post on her story and teased: “Sneak peek of my look for Saturday’s Halloween Show.” Vicky went on to praise Strictly’s main costume designer and added: “My [Vicky Gill] smashing it as always.”

The original clip, which the star reshared from a fan page, comes from Strictly’s It Takes Two, where host Janette Manrara and the designer unveiled the hidden costume from under a sheet.

She was taken aback by the dress, which deviated from the show’s standard glitzy design and instead featured a neutral palette of white and cream.

Alongside white mesh sleeves, the dress also had a bodice adorned with pearls, which continued down to the bottom of the skirt, a pearl rope necklace and fringed tassel detailing along the bust.

Janette shared: “This is Vicky’s American Smooth costume, she’s going to be a ghost, and it’s a very emotive song, so how are you going to make American Smooth become ghostly?”

Vicky, the designer, responded: “We started with the white, which is the obvious choice. “However, this is one of those moments when we’ve used an existing dress and we’re going to upcycle, break it down and use different techniques to try and reinvent the shape and the style.”

She added: “American smooth because our dancers and performers want a fluid skirt.”

Vicky went on to reveal that this wasn’t the final look and explained: “We’re going to break all this down, because all of the sparkle detail on the hem, once it’s frayed and it comes down into a matte form, this is what will happen.

“And then the crinoline will be destressed and then that will go around the bottom of the hem.

“We’re going to keep a little bit of sparkle, but we just really want to have the white, matte feel running through the dress, so a little glimmer but nothing too much,” the costume designer concluded.
