Meghan Markle was torn apart on GB News after it was announced she has returned to acting. The Duchess of Sussex, 44, will reportedly play herself in the film Close Personal Friends, which follows two couples where one is famous and the other is not. She is set to star alongside Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Jack Quaid – son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid – and Henry Golding. GB News presenter Patrick Christys was joined by Mark Littlewood, Adam Brooks and Nina Myskow to discuss the latest updates. Mark questioned whether it can truly be considered as acting because the Duchess is playing herself.

He asked: “Does that count as acting? I’ve been playing myself for the last hour and a half. But I wouldn’t consider myself an actor. Nina clarified: “You’re not delivering someone else’s lines that have been written for you.” Revealing that he writes his own lines, Mark labelled himself not just an actor but also his own scriptwriter.

But Nina stepped in, explaining: “That’s easy to do. You’re saying your own words. But when you’re saying words that somebody else has written for you, that’s acting.”

It was at this point that Adam delivered his scathing assessment of the announcement.

“I could not care any less,” he declared. “I cannot bear this woman.”

The broadcaster raged: “She’s on the front of The Sun. With all the things going on in this country and around the world, we’ve got this idiot on the front of The Sun.”

When Nina suggested that stories about Meghan sell newspapers, Adam shot back: “Well I won’t buy it with her on.”

According to sources, the Duchess has been “swamped with offers” since stepping away from acting eight years ago to marry into the Royal Family. She gained global fame in 2011 when she was cast as Rachel Zane in the US legal drama Suits.

She played the character for nine seasons until 2018, with her final episode airing just months before her Royal wedding to Prince Harry.

The Duke of Sussex, 41, is reportedly supportive of her decision to return to the silver screen.

A studio source told The Sun: “Everyone involved is super-excited, and have been sworn to secrecy about her involvement. Prince Harry is, of course, really supportive and quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy.”

Meghan has previously discussed whether she misses acting, revealing on Emma Grede’s podcast this summer that she “sometimes” does.

The mum-of-two explained: “But you know what, actually, having a large team, being back on set with With Love, Meghan was great, because I realised how much I missed my crew. I love being around a crew.”
