Former Love Island star Dani Dyer has spoken out about experiencing a heartbreaking miscarriage early on in her pregnancy before becoming pregnant with son Santiago

Dani Dyer has revealed for the first time that she suffered a secret heartbreaking miscarriage.

The Love Island star has revealed she suffered the ordeal during an early pregnancy with her ex Sammy Kimmence, before their son Santiago was conceived.

Dani dated her jailbird ex after her stint on Love Island in 2018. The pair then split when he was jailed after being found guilty of conning pensioners out of thousands in 2021.

Before their split, Dani and Sammy welcomed son Santiago together. However, Dani has now revealed her pregnancy was filled with anxiety after she suffered a miscarriage in a previous pregnancy.

She explained: “It was a very early miscarriage.” Dani added to Jamie Laing on his Great Company podcast: “When I got pregnant again, I don’t know how many scans I had. I was literally knocking at the door like ‘Can you check again? Can you check again?’

“And they were like ‘Dani come on’. I just thought I needed to see him one more time.” Dani also explained her first son Santi “wasn’t planned” but her previous miscarriage made her want to become a parent.

She revealed: “I wanted a baby then cos that didn’t work out. So I was like this month I’m not going to be careful. Cos it didn’t work out.”

The reality star gave birth to Santiago in January 2021 at the age of 24. Just months later, she split from Sammy when he was sentenced to 42 months in prison. Despite the heartbreak, Dani says the experience shaped her and made her the mother she is today. Dani is now married to footballer Jarrod Bowen and the pair share twin daughters, Summer and Star, together while Jarrod is also a proud stepdad to Santiago.

“Realistically I shouldn’t have gone back there,” she admitted, while reflecting on her decision to reunite with Sammy after her split from Love Island co-star Jack Fincham.

“My friends say I went back there cos it was someone that I knew, that familiarity. I was 21 and it didn’t work out with Jack and I kind of knew him and we’ll probably just have a bit of fun. I don’t regret anything. I think every decision you make leads you to the path you’re meant to go on.”

Dani has since found happiness with West Ham United footballer Jarrod Bowen, who she married earlier this year. While speaking about this new chapter in her life, Dani has described Jarrod as her “rock” and said family life with their three children is “chaotic but amazing”.

The mum-of-three was recently forced to withdraw from Strictly Come Dancing 2025 after suffering a painful ankle injury during rehearsals, but she still turned up to support her fellow contestants during the show’s Icons Week.

Despite the setback, Dani is expected to return to the Strictly ballroom next year. Fellow contestant Vicky Pattison recently confirmed that the reality star is already lined up for the 2026 series.
