President Trump could be issuing a major snub to Keir Starmer after refusing to confirm if he will be joining the Prime Minister and other European leaders for talks on peace in Ukraine. Good Morning Britain opened the show with the urgent update as Charlotte Hawkins said to Richard Gaisford: “It seems Donald Trump is leaving the Prime Minister hanging on this?” Richard responded: “He certainly is.”

He explained that the leaders have been on the phone with Trump, adding: “They had hoped to persuade Donald Trump to join them tomorrow for talks, he, though, is not sounding entirely convinced.” GMB then cut to a clip of Trump from the Oval Office saying: “They would like us to attend the meeting in Europe if we think there’s a good chance, we don’t want to waste a lot of time, we think it’s negative. We want it to get settled. We want to save a lot of lives.”

Trump had also said: “I think we had some little disputes about people, and we’re going to see how it turns out. And we said, before we go to a meeting, we want to know some things.”

Gaisford continued to explain that President Zelenskyy is revising the US deal, but he added: “It is clear from what everyone is saying that there is still a lot of work to be done to get this over the line.”

It was also stated by Trump’s Press Secretary that her boss wants action, not words.

He went on to say: “Later today here in Downing Street Sir Keir Starmer hosts the Prime Minister of Belgium,” explaining that Belgium has “Russain funds locked up” and are currently under pressure to release some frozen assets to help Ukraine.

Zelenskyy had previously issued an update on X after he was expected to hand over his revised version of a peace plan to US negotiators. He wrote: “This week may bring news for all of us.

“We believe that peace has no alternative, and the key questions are how to compel Russia to stop the killings and what specifically will deter Russia from a third invasion.”

Trump has said of the plan earlier in the week: “Russia is, I believe, fine with it, but I’m not sure that Zelenskyy is fine with it.”

Further discussions will be held at Downing Street on Saturday (December 13), but it’s unlikely that Trump will be in attendance.
