The family of the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs are mourning.

According to Fox News, 9-year-old Janie Hunt, one of the Camp Mystic campers who di3d in the Texas floods, is a family member of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt.

Janie’s family confirmed her d3ath in a statement to PEOPLE, sharing, “We are devastated.”

PEOPLE previously reported that the Christian girls’ camp had experienced catastrophic flooding after d3adly waters swept through the state on Friday, July 4.

Following the devastating news, Clark’s wife Tavia Hunt released an emotional statement on Instagram.

Janie Hunt Sharing for our friends & neighbors to the south. Our hearts go out to all the families and first responders on the ground in the midst of such a tragedy. All the girls missing from camp Mystic due to the flash flooding.

“Our hearts are broken by the devastation from the floods in Wimberley and the tragic l0ss of so many lives – including a precious little Hunt cousin, along with several friend’s little girls,” she wrote in the Instagram post.

“How do we trust a God who is supposed to be good, all knowing and all powerful, but who allows such terrible things to happen — even to children?” she added.

“That is a sacred and tender question — and one the Bible doesn’t shy away from,” Tavia, 53, continued. “Scripture is filled with the cries of those whose hearts have been shattered, who still wrestle to trust the same God they believe allowed the pain.”

According to Fox News, Janie was the great-granddaughter of late billionaire William Herbert Hunt, who was the brother of Clark’s late father Lamar Hunt.

Camp Mystic’s director and co-owner Richard “Dick” Eastland is reported to have di3d while trying to help rescue some of the children.

The family of young camper Lila Bonner also confirmed to PEOPLE that she had di3d.

“The family of Lila James Bonner is heartbroken to confirm the news of her l0ss,” read the statement on Saturday, July 5. “In the midst of our unimaginable grief, we ask for privacy and are unable to confirm any details at this time.”

“We ache with all who loved her and are praying endlessly for others to be spared from this tragic l0ss,” they added.

According to CNN and The Associated Press, at least 82 people have di3d in the floods, while at least 41 others remain missing.

According to the The New York Times, 10 Camp Mystic campers and a counselor are among the people who have been unaccounted for.

In an update shared on Sunday, July 6, the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that they had recovered 68 people in total, including 28 children.
