Ozzy died aged 76 just 20 minutes later at the family’s mansion in Buckinghamshire.
Distraught Sharon screamed uncontrollably when she saw Ozzy slumped in their mansion’s gym — immediately realising her beloved husband had died.
The Black Sabbath frontman had insisted he needed an early morning workout despite battling illnesses including pneumonia and sepsis.
Sharon told friend Piers Morgan in an interview for his Uncensored show how she raced to be with Ozzy after hearing yelling.

Recalling details of his death publicly for the first time, she said: “He had a heart attack.
“I ran downstairs, and there he was, and they were trying to resuscitate him, and I’m like, ‘Don’t — just leave him. Leave him. You can’t. He’s gone’.
“I knew instantly he’d gone. And they tried and tried, and then they took him by helicopter to the hospital and they tried, and it’s like, ‘He’s gone. Just leave him’.”
Sharon said the former hellraiser, sober for more than 40 years, used a cross-trainer for up to 90 minutes a day.
Remembering their final night together in July, she said: “He was up and down to the bathroom all night, and it was like 4.30 and he said, ‘Wake up’. I said, ‘I’m already bloody awake, you’ve woken me up’.
“And he said, ‘Kiss me’. And then he said, ‘Hug me tight’.

“I can’t help wondering if I should have, could I have?
“If only I’d have told him I loved him more. If only I’d have held him tighter.”
She went on: “And he went downstairs, worked out for 20 minutes and passed away.”
Former X Factor judge Sharon, married to Ozzy since 1982, said: “He had told me that he was having dreams in the last week of his life. He was seeing people that he never knew.
“I said, ‘Well, what kind of people?’ He goes, ‘All different people. And I just keep walking and walking, and I’m seeing all these different people every night, and I go back there and I’m looking at these people, and they’re looking at me, and nobody’s talking’. And he knew. He was ready.”
Ozzy and Sharon, 73, enjoyed one of the strongest marriages in showbiz, despite battles with drug abuse, infidelity and multiple trips to rehab.

Sharon admitted her late husband was “so flawed”. But their bond endured throughout his often outrageous behaviour.
Many close to the couple credit Sharon with helping keep Ozzy going in his final years.
And she insists he had fully understood he was nearing the end when he performed for the final time at Birmingham’s Villa Park Stadium on July 5.
He died little more than two weeks later.
Sharon said that throughout preparations for the gig, doctors warned he might not survive the event.
Asked if Ozzy knew the end was near, she said: “Very much so, because he’d been so ill this year — terribly, terribly ill. And when we came to England and we were meeting with new doctors here, a new medical team for him, the main doctor said to him, ‘If you do this show, that’s it. You’re not going to get through it’.

“But we just sat there, and he said, ‘I’m doing it. I want to do it, and I’m doing it’.
“He knew his body was failing him. He was in so much pain, so much pain. And I mean, you know, he had pneumonia three times this year. He’d had sepsis.
“That’s what really, really destroyed him. He was on these shots of antibiotics. It used to take 20 minutes for the shot to go in, and he had that twice a day, and it kills everything in you, the good, the bad, everything. So much antibiotics, and he just couldn’t get over that. He just couldn’t.”
He performed sitting on a custom-made throne as he was no longer able to stand.
Asked by Piers, a close friend of the family, how Ozzy managed to muster the strength to perform, Sharon added: “He just wanted it so bad to say thank you to everyone.
“And I think he honestly did know that, he, he was done. That was his time.

“He was so happy afterwards. He kept looking at the papers, and he goes to me, ‘I never knew so many people liked me’, but that was the way he was.
“I mean, he knew he was famous, but not the amount that people loved him. It’s a whole different thing, and he was just so happy, so so happy.
“And for two weeks he was, you know, really, like every day was sunshine for him. Really, really happy, yeah, so happy — happier than we’d seen him in seven years.”
Devastated Sharon is still struggling to come to terms with Ozzy’s death.
But she is insistent she will never remarry, despite Ozzy asking in his final weeks whether she thought she would.
Wiping away tears, she said: “Everything in my life now is like ish . . . it’s OK, all right. I’m OK. That’s it for now. For so, so many years, we were intertwined.

“It’s very weird to me. You know, when you love someone that much and you’re grieving for them, it’s what I have to live with, and I’ll get used to it. I will. I have to, you know, things move on.
“One night when he was hugging me tight, you know, he said, ‘When I go, do you think you’ll ever get married?’
“I’m like, “f*** off, p*** off”. Oh, my God no, never, ever, ever, no.”
And in perhaps the most harrowing moment of the one-to-one, Sharon told how only the thought of her children and grandchildren had prevented her from contemplating taking her own life.
In poignant and painful moments, the businesswoman and broadcaster said she once visited a mental health facility during a rehab stint and met two girls whose mothers had each died from suicide.
Asked whether her three children — Aimee, Jack and Kelly — had supported her through the tragedy, she explained: “I wouldn’t have gone through.

I would have just gone with Ozzy, definitely. I’ve done everything I wanted to do.
“You know they’ve been unbelievable, just magnificent with me, all three of them,
“Years ago, when I had one of my mental breakdowns, I went into a little facility to help with my head.

“And there were two girls over there. They didn’t know each other, but they were in there, each mother had committed suicide.
“And I saw the state that these two young women were in and what it had done to their lives, and I thought, I will never, ever, ever do that to my kids.”
Sharon and Ozzy first met in the Seventies — when her father Don Arden was working as Black Sabbath’s manager.
Ozzy was married with children at the time.
Sharon recalled how they first hooked up after a boozy night in 1980 — prompting panic the following morning, and claims that they would “never speak again” and that she had “ruined it, f***ed it all up”.
But instead of severing contact, the pair began a passionate affair which would see Ozzy divorce — a period Sharon admits was incredibly challenging, but proved to be the beginning of their enduring relationship.
She said she had been going through many of Ozzy’s diaries, which date back to the mid-Eighties.
They contain personal and candid insights into the star’s personal battles which even his wife had never read before.
She said: “I’ve been reading them and it’s sad. He would put himself down a lot in his journals. It’s very, very sad.”

Sharon added: “It’s inevitable that it happens to all of us. I miss his hand — holding his hand.”
But she told how the outpouring of grief and touching messages sparked by Ozzy’s death had helped the family cope.
She revealed it had even extended to the Oval Office and Buckingham Palace — with personal messages of condolence from friends including President Donald Trump and King Charles.
Sharon said: “It means so, so much, you’ve got no idea.
“President Trump wrote to me, and then actually His Majesty sent me a letter the next day.
“It said how sorry he was. He knew Ozzy. He knew we met him several times, and he’s always been so gracious with Ozzy, and they would always laugh together.
