Natalie Cassidy has spoken out about persistent rumours surrounding whether she plans to expand her family, admitting the questions have followed her for years.

Speaking to Candis magazine, the EastEnders actress revealed that while people frequently ask if she might have a “late baby”, such plans are not currently part of her future.

“People keep asking,” Natalie explained. “Probably because mum had me late. But I’ve got two healthy girls, and, to be honest, I’m looking forward to when Marc and I can have some time on our own – the honeymoon period we’ve never had.”

The actress, best known for portraying Sonia Fowler on the BBC soap, has two daughters. Her eldest, Eliza, 15, is from her previous relationship with transport manager Adam Cottrell, while her younger child, Joanie, nine, is with her current partner, Marc Humphreys.

She made light of Eliza’s teenage years, saying: “No, we went through that when she was 12 and 13. Horrendous. But she’s come out the other side. I think she’s quite proud of me now.”

By contrast, Joanie is less enthusiastic about having a famous mum. “If we’re out and someone recognises me, she gets a bit grumpy. But it’s part of the job. I’ve never understood actors being rude to the public.”

Natalie has been engaged to cameraman Marc Humphreys since 2014 and credits him with helping her feel grounded and happy. “We’re friends and we laugh all the time. When he’s off working, I miss him. We like being together. He’s made me find who I am, the real me.”

The couple have postponed their wedding for several years, though Natalie insists the ceremony will take place “sooner or later”.

“We met ten years ago. In October, when Marc turned 40, it would have been the perfect time,” she said. “But I’ve been too busy with the book. It’ll happen sooner or later. Marc’s the one I want to grow old with.”

Professionally, Natalie has remained busy throughout 2025. She competed in The Masked Singer, appeared in an episode of Boarders, presented What’s the Big Deal: Britain’s Best Buys, and won the fifth series of Cooking with the Stars.

She has also led theatre projects and BBC productions, released her memoir Happy Days, and embarked on a nationwide book tour.
