David Beckham shares emotional post as he reaches out to Brooklyn amid feud

Sir David Beckham has shared a deeply emotional throwback photograph with his sons amid growing efforts to repair the widening rift with Brooklyn.

The former England captain, 50, posted images on Wednesday celebrating Inter Miami’s recent MLS title win, including a new family image featuring wife Lady Victoria, 51, and their children Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14.

But what drew the most attention was a second image: a throwback to Sir David’s LA Galaxy years, showing him proudly holding the MLS Cup alongside a young Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz.

“Licence to cry,” Sir David captioned the post, a message insiders believe was a heartfelt olive branch aimed at his estranged eldest son, 26.

According to sources close to the family, Sir David and Lady Victoria have grown increasingly distressed by Brooklyn’s ongoing absence, especially after several major family moments this year were marked by his unexplained no-shows.

One insider told The Sun: “His absence has really taken a toll on the special days, the knighthood and now Christmas.

“It’s like the ghost of Brooklyn is hanging over their Christmas and New Year’s. Last year they were all together.”

Brooklyn, who remains in the United States with wife Nicola Peltz’s family, did not attend his father’s knighthood ceremony, Inter Miami’s MLS Cup Final victory, the premiere of Victoria’s Netflix docuseries, or recent family gatherings.

Victoria also made a poignant gesture this month when she shared footage from her mother Jackie Adams’s festive fireplace, where personalised Christmas stockings for all four Beckham children, including one embroidered with Brooklyn’s name, were prominently displayed.

A source suggested the post was “their way of showing how missed Brooklyn is” and that the family wanted him to know “the door is always open”.

The rift between Brooklyn and his parents has been simmering since his 2022 wedding to Nicola, with friction escalating significantly over the past two years.

When David was knighted in June, he tagged Brooklyn in a family tribute, writing, “I love you all @victoriabeckham @brooklynpeltzbeckham…”

In December, Cruz posted a rare image featuring Brooklyn with the caption, “Love you guys,” marking the first time he’d publicly included his brother since the feud became public.

That same month, Victoria’s Christmas stocking video and a gentle, hopeful comment from Brooklyn’s grandmother Jackie on one of his posts underscored the family’s ongoing attempts at reconciliation.

Reports from earlier this year suggested tensions worsened after Brooklyn’s circle claimed David and Victoria “don’t treat their son properly,” with Nicola portrayed as the only one who “stands up for him”.

At the same time, Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their wedding vows without informing the Beckham family, followed by more high-profile absences from major Beckham milestones.

Romeo and Cruz later unfollowed and were said to have blocked Brooklyn and Nicola on Instagram, signalling just how strained the situation had become.

Despite this, sources close to the family insist that the Beckhams’ focus remains firmly on repairing the relationship.
