Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid was forced to intervene when speaking to Caroline Willgoose, whose son Harvey was murd3red.

Susanna Reid was forced to halt an emotional interview on Good Morning Britain on Monday after a technical error. She and co-star Paul Brand welcomed Caroline Willgoose – the mother of Harvey Willgoose, who was killed after being stabbed in school back in February.

Susanna asked the bereaved parent how hard she was finding things as we “hurtle towards Christmas and Harvey’s birthday”. However, the ITV presenter was met with silence, as Caroline appeared via video link from Sheffield. After a few moments, the host said: “Oh, I’m so sorry Caroline. I wonder if we can just double check if you can hear us? Caroline, can you hear us here in the studio or do we need to fix the communications? Can you hear us?” But again, she was met with silence, meaning that Susanna had to put a swift stop to the interview and change the order of the show.

They then moved on, with Susanna saying that they would be speaking to a doctor in the studio instead to discuss the importance of bleed kits – a piece of life-saving equipment that Caroline is pushing to be in all schools.

Doctor Emeka was on hand to explain how the bleed kits work, sharing that they can help to limit a catastrophic blood loss. He then gave a live demonstration of what’s included in one and how to use each of the items.

He also shared that, as well as helping with stabbings, they can also be used for any other instances of blood loss, including car accidents.

Eventually, the ITV show moved back to Caroline as Susanna issued an apology. “I’m sorry that we couldn’t get the sound working where you are,” she said before urging her to explain how important it is to get these pieces of kits into schools.

Caroline admitted that her son, Harvey, still might not have been saved if there was one in place but added: “In this day and age there should be one in every single school, so that’s what we are going to do.”

Paul then asked: “How are you doing with his birthday coming up in a couple of weeks, and Christmas too?” The mum replied: “Not good. Not good at all, but just keeping busy. We are going to make schools safer and that’s what’s pushing me through.”

Susanna seemed to choke up slightly as she said that it is “shocking” that young children had even taken weapons into school and Caroline shared that the killer had “no remorse”.

Wrapping up the interview, Susanna seemed to be fighting her emotions over the harrowing stories as she said: “Aw, lots and lots of love, Caroline. I mean, there is absolutely nothing else that we can do other than send you lots of love. What you’re doing is just so important.”
