OPINION: Strictly Come Dancing has made a big error, and it could cost them dearly.

Strictly Come Dancing was not the same last night. I’m still so heartbroken that Lewis has gone. I really thought he was going to win! I think the show made a big mistake getting rid of him; it has definitely brought things down a bit. With Lewis in the show, we would have really been wondering who is going to win, but now I think it’s clear it will end up being between Karen Carney and George Clarke in the final, which isn’t that exciting.
I was frustrated when I found out who is leaving the show tonight. It just feels like a waste to me, because I think this person should have gone the week before, or perhaps even before then. I hate to say it because they’re a lovely person who has had an incredible journey, but it has left me feeling a little bit flat about this series. However, some would argue that it is the magic of Strictly that someone totally unexpected can have a bad week, and that’s it for them, while others end up in the dance-off and manage to go the distance.

Strictly’s Karen Carney didn’t deserve as many 10s last night (Image: BBC )
I didn’t think that Karen deserved 10s last night because her shoulders were noticeably up during her dance, but I did think her salsa was outstanding, and she was clearly the judges’ choice last night. She definitely had the edge on everyone else, and I have the feeling they would like her to win. But because she and George are such different performers, I really couldn’t call it between them.
George is not the best technically, but he has got that something about him that people like, and so that is why he has gotten away with it. I really think Alexis Warr knows her stuff as well; the choreography last night was outstanding. There were steps in his Charleston that I have never seen anyone do before. I am wondering what he will be planning on doing if he wins the show, as I can’t see him pursuing dancing. I think he would be a good presenter, but is he good enough to beat another dancer to be on the West End? No I don’t think so.

Balvinder has done well for someone who has been in the dance-off so many times (Image: BBC)
Poor Amber has had two weeks of getting 40 but she has been in the dance-off twice, so I’m not sure the public are backing her enough to win. I think it’s so unfair when stars with experience get crucified by the public just because they have experience. Is she entertaining us? Yes. Is she giving the show her best effort? Yes. She is just a woman who wants to make it as a dancer, and it is such a shame to see someone who is given 40s then land in the dance-off. If you’re going off technique, it should have been her and Lewis in the final. I hope everyone can ease up on her a bit.
Balvinder has really had to put in a lot during this competition, given her frequent appearances in the dance-off, but she has given it her absolute best. However, it is frustrating that people more talented than her have left the show, with Lewis being a particularly obvious example. I hope she forgives me for saying this, but I thought it was unfair that she got through to the semi-final while Lewis didn’t. But at the end of the day, dance is subjective, and it’s the judges’ choice.

Amanda Holden could be a strong contender to present the show (Image: Getty)
I can’t believe it’s going to be Tess and Claudia’s final show next weekend! I think I’m going to feel emotional watching it: I’m planning on having my neighbours round to watch the occasion, but it really is going to be the end of an era. I saw that BBC bosses are apparently testing out different stars to replace Tess and Claudia. I still think that Holly Willoughby and Bradley Walsh would be the best option; Holly is always so upbeat, and Bradley has got the charisma.
Rob Rinder and Rylan Clark have great chemistry, but they just don’t have the experience for such a big show yet. Amanda Holden could also be a good option; she would definitely bring the glamour, she has got the experience, and she makes a great partnership with Alan Carr, who would be the perfect replacement for Claudia! But we will just have to wait and see.
