The Prime Minister opened up about his family life during an appearance on the ITV show Loose Women.

Sir Keir Starmer has opened up about his teenage daughter’s reaction to his win in the General Election, which left him emotional.

The Prime Minister appeared on Thursday’s episode of ITV daytime show Loose Women (December 18) and discussed his worst day in office so far.

The politician joined host Charlene White, Judi Love, Mariella Frostrup, and Myleene Klass, and spoke to the panel about the online safety bill and his pledge to keep teenagers safe from online abuse.

However, the conversation soon turned to Sir Keir’s experience as Prime Minister so far, and he provided a heartbreaking account of the night of the 2024 general election.

Mariella asked Sir Keir: “Listen, I want to know the worst day you have had so far, as there must be a lot to choose from?”

Judi then joked: “And don’t say Loose Women”, as the television studio then broke out into laughter before Sir Keir gave an honest response.

He explained: “The very worst was actually the day of the General Election, nearly broke my heart because we had the exit poll that said, ‘Labour has got a landslide victory’.

“I was with my team and my family, and I jumped up and punched the air as I would if Arsenal had just scored a fantastic goal, and my little girl, 13 then, burst into tears and was inconsolable.”

Sir Keir confessed: “That ripped through me, these two emotions, totally through my body. It was so hard.”

Sir Keir was appointed Prime Minister in July 2024 by King Charles. He became the first Labour Prime Minister since Gordon Brown in 2010 and the Labour candidate to win a general election since Tony Blair in 2005.

Sir Keri has two teenage children, a son and a daughter, with his wife, Victoria Starmer, but they keep them largely out of the public eye.

He later told the Loose Women panel that he bought his daughter a Siberian cat, named Prince, following his election victory.
