Amongst the glitter and excitement, however, this year’s final is expected to be met with a tinge of sadness as presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will officially bid farewell to the BBC dancefloor. The pair took to social media to announce the heartbreaking news two months ago, just as the 2025 series kicked off in style.

They said: “We have loved working as a duo and hosting Strictly has been an absolute dream. We were always going to leave together and now feels like the right time.

“We will have the greatest rest of this amazing series and we just want to say an enormous thank you to the BBC and to every single person who works on the show. They’re the most brilliant team and we’ll miss them every day.”

Tess joined the show in 2004 before hosting alongside the legendary broadcaster, Sir Bruce Forsyth. He decided to step down from the role in 2010, where Claudia Winkleman took on the role.

The duo will also be hosting Strictly’s Christmas special, but after that it’ll be up to new presenters to replicate the Strictly magic.

However, there’s yet to be any confirmation as to who that will be, but names have been floating around fans. Alison Hammond’s name appears to be a popular choice, and the presenter was ready to talk about the rumours while on Loose Women.

On Thursday (December 11), as Charlene White told her to take the job, Alison responded: “Oh, don’t be silly!”. She then added: “Do you know what, the thing is Claudia and Tess can’t really dance.

“So, I think it needs another presenter who can’t really dance” as she jokingly gestured to Coleen Nolan. Alison then admitted she’d love to take on Claudia’s role in the Clauditorium, with Coleen doing the “sensible” role.

She continued: “Whoever gets that job, what an amazing job. It’s the dream job. I’d absolutely without.. In fact, let’s announce it – I’m the new presenter of Strictly everyone!

“The BBC doesn’t know it yet, but it’s gonna happen.” She joked: “Anyone who does that job I wish them all the best, but ultimately you’ll always be thinking, ‘if it’s not me, it should be Alison’ so they might as well just give it to me!”
